3 years of losing on purpose for one great season (2015) and one dream season. This season is really bizarre in how the mighty have fallen.

So where does Theo go from here?

My first move is to unload Arrieta. Get a couple of young arms and maybe one 5th starter to finish out this deadass season.

Doubt they'd get much for Arrieta. What is the new rule on free agent compensation - a pick after the 1st round?

Dress up like a clown and beat Joe Maddon to death in front of the team.

I went to put on the radio feed through mlb.com and it was already 10-0. I wasn't about to waste my time after that horse abortion of a half inning putting on the radio feed so I could here trivia. Music all the way today.

It seems like every weekend, I say to my wife "Nice, the Cubs are playing this afternoon" and then after like 10 minutes, I tell her the game's already over and we should just find a hobo to murder to kill time.

It really is amazing how this team has morphed into this Bears-like watching experience where you know the game is over within 10-20 minutes of watching them.

Verlander on this team plus Hendricks coming back equals a division championship with 90 wins.

Verlander would be a bad fit all the way around. Why do a Lackey all over again? Never gonna happen.

So the Cubs get killed twice this week. One of the most pathetic displays I've seen from a team heading into the break. Team really looked like they quit this week, needed to have a 6-1 week. If they can't put this together in the 2nd half, it might be one of the biggest chokes of all time.

I was thinking the same thing. I had about an hour and half drive and the game was just getting started. I was looking forward to a nice leisurely drive with the Cubs game on. Took 20 minutes before I was over to music.

I've flipped over to a lot of movies this year. Still watched more of this team than they probably deserve but haven't been as active in watching as I was past two years. You can only scream stop trying to hit a home run and throw an fng strike so many times.

This would be considered a hopeful first half during 99% of the season's of cubbie fan's lives.

"Hey, we're within 5.5 games of first place and we have Kevin Orie coming up in the second half. We can totally do this. That would be an awesome weekend when I go back to Iowa for homecoming and get to watch the cubbies in the playoffs in the old frat house with all my old bros after getting shit faced at the tailgate in the morning."

Convoluted point but I understand the dig you were going for.

Still is a hopeful first half.

If I didn't have hope it wouldn't piss me off. I dunno.. I need the four days off from cubs baseball but I was expecting a more enjoyable season. But yes, compared to much of my 30 odd years of watching games hovering around 500 wouldn't be horrible. Compared to last two it is bad. Still hopeful for getting into playoffs third year in a row, that would be a first time in many lifetimes for that to happen.

That first inning yesterday is everything that is wrong with this team. You saw the whole mess. And even in Friday's win, you saw lots of guys left on base early in the game. The Cubs have let innings get away from them defensively, and they have failed to maximize on offensive opportunities.

I wish the media could grasp this concept. Hanley seems to be the only one.

I went along with it for the first couple months. Giving out rings, hanging banners... 2016 was still riding shotgun at the start of this season. Now they are just a bunch of guys pissing me off.

Yup. The bad pitching and errors right out the gate could mean that some of the guys were looking past the game to the 4 day break, which would be on the manager as much as the players.

I don't get Bryant getting upset at the booing. The fans weren't booing Lester the man, they were booing the performance yesterday and basically for the first half of this season. You can love 2016 and hate 2017 at the same time.

I do. He has only known success in MLB. Hell, he's probably never been booed by a home crowd in his life. He went from ROY to MVP and World Series champ in two seasons. Now they are struggling and all these front running dipshit players are showing their asses.
