I think it's gonna take 89 to win it. So they would have to go 46-28 to get there.

BP has them at 83 wins, 2nd place. Not sure how these clowns are going to play at a .542 clip to get there. Not with that crap pitching staff. Looks like 2016 was nothing more than catching lightning in a bottle.

I will have something to say about it should they decide to sell off. It won't be pretty and I expect you to be defensive until finally realizing I am correct.

They are kind of getting to the point where they need both a Brewer fade and the team to play really well. I have been confident all along that the Cub win the division but I don't see both of those things happening.

The Brewers then become the 2015 Cubs, securing a playoff spot with waves of talent starting to make their way ashore.

Then you have teams like the Braves outside the division and the Yankees in the AL who look like their young players are going to be better than the Cubs young players. Suddenly, Elmhurst Steve's vision of extended dominance doesn't look as attainable.

But hey, every team you played at the end of the year of out lord 20 and 16 lost a major component and even though they were still able to stretch you to your limit, you persevered.

Cubs play a little bit better and end up with 83 wins. Whether that's enough to win the division or not I guess remains to be seen.

Five teams in the NL are above .500. It's like the entire league decided to tank.

Sox suck and there are still several NL teams so much worse than them that they have no hope of the #1 pick.

The funny thing is, last year Bernstein and others cautioned that despite the great regular season (and by extension, the success of The Plan), the randomness of playoffs didn't guarantee a WS victory. But now, the same people are arguing that the Cubs shouldn't make any moves to help them squeeze into the playoffs because they would get destroyed by the Dodgers or Nationals. Hypocrites.

They'll end up winning 85/86 games this year and pray the Brewers collapse. But if they make the post season they're toast. They haven't beaten a real quality club this year except for that early April series vs the Dodgers

They might be able to pull off some magic if they get home field in a round
