Sure his 500 foot home runs were majestic and he looks poised to be the face of baseball for the next five years. However, he didn't flip his bat when he hit the home runs and everyone has told me how much more it enhances their enjoyment of a game when the bat is flipped rather than the home run itself. He must be an oldhead.

Nomination denied(even though I realize it's in jest). He's probably the best baseball player in the great history of the game.

Dolphin is just an old scared white guy who can't understand the exuberance of the Latino baseball players. They just can't help themselves . He just doesn't remember when Tony Perez, Roberto Clemente , and Orlando Cepeda used to do it .

Easy. If you have him in your fantasy league and drafted him in the 25th round of a 28 round draft.

The tanking philosophy that has invaded all sports looks ridiculous when you realize the Yankees rebuilt from the Jeter, Rivera, Posada, Williams years to this without having a losing season.

There's counter examples everywhere. The Spurs have the second best player and next best player in the world and if they tanked it was 20 years ago and not since. Daryl Morey in Houston has gotten Chris Paul, James Harden, and previously Dwight Howard when he was actually in demand and he's never had a top 10 pick in his Houston tenure. Have the Cardinals tanked ever?

Yes, and only one team has really successfully pulled it off with a WS title. Makes what the Cubs did even more impressive, really.

Right but what you say really should tell folks to get off the Sox' back for not losing enough or doing it Theo's way step by step.

The Sox were pulling worse records than the Cubs when the Cubs were losing games on purpose.

But that was never the argument. Only the extremely stupid/trolling posters argued KW and Hahn were not incompetent. The argument was is losing for 3 straight years on purpose a good thing.

You constantly bragging about that is one of the dumbest baseball points this board has ever seen.

I don't think many even would have criticized the losing for three years purposely if it was done in a different way. If you just put a shitting roster together at the start and say roll with this is one thing. The blatant deadline dumps and other transactions that pulled the rug out from under the fans during a particular season was off putting.

Judge will eventually restore jealousy of the Yankees that made baseball fun. This will be especially true when he overshadows the press guys like Harper and Trout get, who have done so much more at the same or younger age. Maybe we will even see the Yankees start to spend like the Yankees again.

MLB is better when the Yankees are good.

But the Sox were "reloading" and were still worse than the Cubs, so maybe tanking does have it's advantages even when you are losing.

I don't know what you mean, unless you're implying KW/Hahn and Theo are the same caliber GM and the "purposefully" losing is the only difference. I hope that's not what you're saying here.

It's a shame mid market teams like Chicago can't compete with those payrolls.
