Disco isn't bad. I like disco more than metal.

I thought the White Sox should have had Emo Elimination Night around 2006 when Fall Out Boy, Simple Plan, and Panic at the Disco were really a cancer on the ass of life. Don't even bother with the CDs, just go right to the source and get a bunch of guys wearing eyeliner and girl jeans (they just fit better!) and set them on fire.

And I was not holding hands either.

Hell no.

When I saw "last post by Hockey Gay" in the thread where I said I like disco more than metal," I knew I was getting something. Frankly, I feel I got off easy.

Metal doesn't agree with my ears on some really basic level. Too much midrange, not enough low end. Don't like it. Even "Walk" by Pantera, one of the few metal songs I do like because I thought Rob Van Dam was cool when I was 13 years old, doesn't really give the subwoofer a workout.

Can we at least reconcile on 2000s emo being one of the worst things to happen to music?

You're saying you weren't a Dashboard Confessional guy?

Nope, wouldn't touch Dashboard Confessional. I had just discovered the Smiths at that time and thought this guy was just a weak Morrissey ripoff.

 Yes, we can.

I could go the rest of my life without hearing "Walk" again and you did get off easy because you're my guy and I respect your passion for music.

I'm with you gay but for instance you can't say The Bee Gees were shit or sucked. You might say you don't appreciate them but sucked is too much.

Some of the groups everyone is mentioning bring back great memories. Pop culture used to be fun until a bunch of no talent hacks ruined it the rest of us.

I was thinking more of Chic as one you gotta hand it to. I mean, "Good Times" is a classic in its own right and the basis for "Rapper's Delight."

Back to shitty mid-'00s emo. WHAT IS THIS, WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS. How was anyone listening to this garbage?

I don't like the screaming shit. Like, why are you angrily yelling at me? I love death metal, especially the old school stuff and it bothers me when people are like "ewww its all screamy and stuff". It's not. It's gutteral vocals and they're awesome. It's different from screaming so get your shit straight.

Maybe I'm biased. Staying Alive came on at a store once and I started dancing and my girlfriend was so embarrassed because shes too metal for that. That was a good 30 seconds.

I know I've told it here before, I was there as well, a strapping 14 year-old, along with Mom and Dad, Sis and Grandpa, the financially responsible Tigers fan who loved the twi-nite DH. I remember fans in CF firing LPs at Ron LeFlore, with whom I sure a birthday. I still see Dave Machemer reffing high school basketball over here now and then, I'll have to ask him about that night next time I see him.

Holy shit--you were there, too? You were one of the guys who sat in the dugout? We were laughing at that hysterically. Have you watched the game on Youtube? You might be on it....

Speed Merchant.

I fought back tears during The Ron LeFlore Story

what? one of the most fun things to do in the early 2000's was screaming along with "best deceptions" on a night drive.

No, not once, never. It was all terrible. Especially this album cover:
Image

Was Something Corporate emo? I guess they were but not like scene-kid mallpunk emo, which was a pox on humanity in the early-to-mid-aughts. "Konstantine" was a good piano ballad. That's all I know of theirs, it's totally possible everything else sucked.
