You do realize Quintana has been better than Archer over the last four seasons, yes?

I believe that's debatable and i think last year was an anomaly for Archer

And this year is an anomaly for Quintana.

But compare their individual 2014 and 2015 seasons, if you like. Archer was an "ace" those years. Look at Quintana during the same period.

If any fan doesn't love Schwarber for what he did in WS than they arent Cubs fans period.

He might not even have Dunns career. His coming back to contribute in the WS will never be undone though.

Im jot saying he's untouchable but toock any love for the guy is being silly. 108 years.

He managed to reinvent himself once he started breaking down. Verlander is still top notch.

Yeah he rock starred it in the WS and Im grateful for that but if you cant fucking hit .200 in half a season you need to be torched.

I'd take Dunn's career right now. He'll be long gone before he hits the Sox version of Adam Dunn

Because the AL has that free pinch-hitter rule.

Why does that help Quintana (other than possibly reducing numbers that ultimately don't matter)? The Cubs won't be using a free pinch-hitter either.

But Quintana is a pitcher. He individually might look better pitching to 8 instead of 9

If you are on a bad team facing teams with consistently better talent, you will be facing a higher quality of batter on average than the team supporting you. Having an extra hitter accentuates that differential.

The NL is more like pitching to 5 instead of to 9 this year.

Run support is nothing more than what the other guy who starts and is usually better than Quintana allows. I guess you can feel better about him when he's 4-6 with a 3.60 ERA than when he's 4-6 with a 4.40 ERA though.
