I don't know anything about the AL and not much about the cubs minor league system.

Was this trade good for the Cubs or bad? Hate seeing so many young prospects going for one guy but is this Q guy worth it?

The 2017 Cubs won the trade and the 2019 White Sox won the trade.

Not if the 2017 Cubs miss the playoffs.

Was not aware that Quintana is a FA after 2017. Thanks for the information.

Was not aware that Quitana's 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, or 2023 affected the 2017 Cubs.

The 2017 Cubs still win the trade as Quintana gives the Cubs a better chance at winning the division than Jimenez and Cease did. If the Cubs do not make the playoffs, this trade still helped them put their best foot forward, and one could argue 2019 Quintana could help the 2019 Cubs more than 2019 Jimenez (22 yo then) and Cease (still raw for a few more seasons).

Look, the White Sox got a ton of value back, and Quintana is a really good starter that helps the Cubs.

I'm not sure why we're arguing about who has won the trade at the moment? Quintana to the Cubs has been discussed for over a year now because it makes a ton of sense for both teams.

Well....I remember hearing that the White Sox won the off-season in 2015. It didn't help them much. So we'll see.

I will pull for Q the rest of this year (unless he pitches in the CUP games).

Don't underestimate the impact this has on the BP Cup.

All I know is that the Cup stays home! I hope Q gets shelled.

After that, go ahead and pitch well.

Good trade.

Quintana changes the entire complexion of the Cubs biggest problem area. Douches will deny it but he is the Cub #1 pitcher today. He immediately allows the Cubs to be at a pitching advantage in every spot against playoff opponents (except Kershaw). I also LOVE AL pitchers coming to the NL for short term success.

Sox have the makings of a powerhouse OF if these suspects become prospects.

The Cub players now need to shut the hell up about bringing someone in. The offense better wake the hell up.

Wow. That is surprising.

Also someone on the White Sox Reddit board had this trade last night. Said it was Q to the Cubs for 4 players.

Yep, I saw that--the poster nailed it. Then Rosenthal tweeted (about the trade) and deleted his tweet (apparently).

Yep. And if the players had woken up by now, this sort of move would not have been necessary.

I wonder if Q will like the Pajamagram road trips

Why? I like to watch real baseball. not something close to softball. I think your version of 'typical cub fans' know only about the cubs and not the entire NL.

I was waiting for someone to go that ridiculous route. Didn't think it would be you. Lester is their clear #1.

He didn't say. But he also said the Flete was a little known guy that he saw and liked in the offseason.

Post trade posturing.

The guy has been compared to Giancarlo Stanton.

Awesome! We got Giancarlo Stanton!

Good trade for both teams. I do think the cubs offense will wake up in the 2nd half. There's no waking up a starting pitching staff that got really old really fast. Assuming Hendricks is healthy in the 2nd half....the cubs have 3 legit starters which should be enough to make the playoffs. Plus....Q is cost controlled for the future.

FFS.....please don't try and argue Q is better than Jon Lester in 2017.

Phil Rogers is saying this puts the Cubs as the top team again in the NL. And the brewers drove up the price the cubs had to pay in getting Q. Interesting to see what role the Brewers paid in all of this. Now let's see what the Brewers or even the Cards do.
