I hope people riot and do so regularly whenever a cop guns down an innocent civilian. Except, don't smash store windows, block the police stations, courthouses, and government buildings. The anger of the people should be directed against the government institutions oppressing us, those passing the laws, and those who are keeping them from being held accountable. I welcome the day when our government fears its people, as it was originally supposed to.

It's one of the reasons I supported the Bundy's even though they were awful people. At least they made a government back down. Now if only we could do so in other cases.

Walking to work today past that park at Van Buren and State. You know the one, littered with trash and bums. The bums are just blatantly drinking in public and harrassing tourists for money, which is just shitty behavior either way you slice. Old cop, near retirement, he's just begging them to stop because he can't really do anything. At least three people filming the exchange on their phones.

Sad to see a kinda noble idea to build a park in that lot just destroyed by, and let's be totally frank here, the same class of people who are doing all the drug dealing and killing in this town. We all know what's going on and who's responsible. I'm tired of it.

Probably saved his partners life but no one is talking about that. I can see the headline already.

Bomani Jones nailed the issue on the head with those tweets. There is absolutely no way to deny that the color of the cop and the victim plays a huge role in any conviction / punishment. This cop has no way out. Inexcusable shooting. Borderline murder.

Previous cases? Workplace accident. Unfortunate series of events. A learning experience.

Then why did James Boyd's killer go free? How are you so sure that the cop being black has anything to do with the calls to convict him, or the probability that he will be convicted? Weren't a handful of those cops in Philly black as well? Yet they walked, too...why?

And how is that a double standard? How are you (or Jones) divorcing the cop's race as the reason for conviction from ALLLLLL the other things that go into convicting a police officer of a crime committed while on duty?

In the same city a black guy got shot for nothing and the cop walked away. If the same situation happens (with reversed races) and the cop is convicted... I think that's the definition of having a double a standard isn't it. You have one standard for black civilians and one for white civilians in Minneapolis.
