How do you define "so closely"? It's a public profile and I view it once in awhile. If that's maladjusted then I'd like to see what it is a well adjusted person does.

I think you're right. I retract that. Tracking down someone's arrest record and court case, then finding their name from that, and THEN running it through a sex offender registry is the totally normal, well-adjusted route adults take all the time.
