Sean Waltman-Rodriguez kinda looks like a well-groomed Bin Laden.

I know this board rags on them, but Monty and Butler have been huge for the Cubs this year. Butler is back at AAA right now, but both of them have put up decent numbers as SP.

They've had some seriously bad performances tho. Seems like Montgomery has woken up today. They sent the right guy down to AAA imo.

I'm not saying they have lit the world on fire. I'm just saying that they have pitched well enough when the Cubs needed them. More than can be said for Arrieta and Lackey.

I don't think you could have expected more from Butler. And Monty should be in the bullpen so any good starts you get from him are a bonus.

Agreed, Lackey has been especially awful.

Wonder how long Joe allows Montgomery to pitch. I would keep him in there as long as possible to give the bullpen an extra day of rest with an off day coming up before the Cards series.

I figure that's it. 6 innings of 1 run 85 pitch ball is about all you could ever want from a number 5. Let the bullpen get 9 outs .

Lot of first pitch swinging against a knuckleballer.

I wondered if that were true or if it was a case of confirmation bias.

It's the former.

He's filling in for the semi-customary post that Matches puts up at the end of games.
