What makes you think my attitude has changed?

I doubt you can find one post of me joining in bashing bigfan. I still like the guy and consider him a friend, as much as any predominantly internet relationship is a friendship.

Am I supposed to go into a rage every time one of these guys brings up his name in vain? That is a weekly situation here and I'd be wasting my time. I just assumed everyone knew how I felt as I've said my peace on the subject. If you need a rehashing, I can give you the bullet points and we can have ten pages of protesting. The very end was unfortunate but I don't dump my friends for making mistakes, yet you rarely see those guys with the most egregious beef as the one's referencing bigfan.

He was once bitching about people cluttering up a thread with useless posts. So I made-- what I thought was-- a wise suggestion to just lock that thread. He responded by locking the entire White Sox section for a day. The thread he was bitching about wasn't even in the Sox section. I think it may have been an event post IIRC.

Maybe he just didn't know how to lock a single thread, and wasn't smart enough to ask anybody.

I don't know him personally beyond board meet ups. We knew some of the same people in our lives but never had a social interaction that wasn't board initiated. I have spent a lot of years here though.

The business dealings at the end don't sound good but bad business breakups never do. The other stuff...well, without flaming things too much, has the guy been proven entirely incorrect?

But looking at everything in the light most favorable to all those who claim something beyond a business offense, board ownership and moderating has to drive a person bonkers. I'd really wonder if he spends any time thinking about the people who still think about him a lot here.

Sellers remorse was the only real issue I think. We heard from other local message board owners. One of whom experienced the same thing we did when he made his purchase.

I think he does for sure. I doubt he dwells on it daily or for MANY minutes at a time, but I'm sure once in a while he sees something that reminds him of this board and its people.

I was a big fan of big fan for 7 or 8 years but when he broke bad on the board and tried to destroy a community that I've come to love I certainly changed my feelings for him, yes.

My favorite BF moment was when he gave moderator powers to IMU and then had to take them back like 3 hours later cause IMU managed to fuck it all up.

This is the Bears chat thing you're referring to, right?

Bigfan couldn't do it once, so I purchased my own (rented, really, for a couple months) and that became the official Bears chat. For 2-3 weeks. That last week...someone got mad that I kept booting them (don't remember who...Apologist?) and then bigfan went back to using his chat room.

The only other mod powers I've had were when Nas gave them to me for a day to pay off a bet.

Maybe I remember you being more critical than you actually were post-exit. I do know you and I disagreed while all the banning was going on. In this message board world, I think his conduct was indefensible and I remember you and a sizeable group of guys rationalizing why he'd ban whomever he banned. Maybe it's easier for me to say that because I don't have a personal connection with him, I'll admit that. But I'll stand by saying he made several massive "mistakes" way before whatever he did during the sale of the board.

Easily disproven by examining the three wisemen over the past year. BF was thin-skinned and capricious: as a "moderator" his role was limited to banning people whom he couldn't defeat in an argument. If he went bonkers it's because he lost the power to silence people he didn't like. That's why he's not here anymore.

I guess we should go back to clarifying what you mean when you say "was BF incorrect?". I don't know if it's an opinion to say that over the past year, under new moderators, no one has been banned and drama hasn't been created as a result of the personalities of the moderators. So far that's a fact more than an opinion.

I guess my post was redundant because you can say I'm using bannings and drama interchangeably. It's one thing to say you're a guest here but it's another to rationalize (not support) bannings on the basis of something other than the banned being guests here. That's what I disagreed with - I don't remember the idea of the banned being guests here playing a large role in the rationalization of them being banned.
