What an unexciting year this will be

Unless the Polish kid gets in early, I may not even watch the games

If I watch half of the games this year I'll be surprised.

They will be better than last year, as it would be kind of hard not to be.

I think they have a good amount of talent on the defensive side of the ball and it is unlikely they will have the ludicrous amount of injuries on defense they had last year.

I know the long-necked Mike Glennon doesn't have many options at receiver, but the running game will be solid.

6-10 or 7-9

Not great, but not as much of a shitshow as last year.

I think so as well, but we've been singing that song for several years now and have been wrong.

They were stacking the box on Howard and he still ran on defenses last year.

That Bears D line will be impossible to run on if healthy. They are top run defenders but they also have health issues, except for Hicks.

Is there a young player to be excited about on the roster?

Lame-duck coach, GM did NOTHING to improve the team near term, all their old injury-prone vets are a year older and more injury-prone...its gonna be a bad year. I would not rule out picking 1.1 in 2018, as both the 49ers and Browns did a ton to better themselves for the coming year.

That vaunted front 7?
Hicks: good/great
Goldman: good/great for 6 games a year, doesn't play the rest
Jaye Howard: good/great, but something is clearly wrong
Floyd: career is in jeopardy
Freeman: good/great, but over 30
Trevathan: might not play this year, or ever again
McPhee: good/great for 6 games a year, doesn't play the rest

This.

If the Bears are healthy, they will be more than competitive.

There's a lot of wishful thinking here. My guess is 4-12, with all 4 wins in the second half.

I will guess 6-10 with two of those coming late season when games aren't as competitive.

Yay Competitiveness! 7 wins here we come!

Like Doug, I will probably not see more than half of their games.

Yup. If they stay healthy their ceiling is probably 7-9. Most likely they are a 4-12 or 5-11 team

I predict they look good early and win a couple games and get people interested only to fall apart in the last half of the season finishing 6-10.

Bears games used to be must see TV for me and I think I watched parts of three games last year. They will win 5 games at best.

Have you seen the front part of their schedule? They could be 1-7 at the bye.

I agree with your overall win total though. This seems like a 5-6 win team to me.

When your team is never bad, it makes it a hell of a lot easier. For a Packers fan in their mid 30s, can you even remember a season worse than 6-10?

Favre's second to last season they were 4-12, iirc. Him and Al Harris walked off the field last game arm in arm. Everyone thought Favre was done.

So one or two losing seasons in 20 years with a couple SB wins as well. What an arduous journey it's been for you.

You have seen 3 Super Bowls (2-1) and a World Series.

There are Chicago fans that lived 80+ years and didn't get to see that.

No doubt that could happen. But it is hard to tell right now. There will be teams people think will be pretty good have bad years and vice versa.

Nobody except Wedding Welch Nas thinks the Bears are going to have a good year though.
