Even the Sox couldn't lose every game after the All-Star break.

Don't know why Bernstein even bothered coming on to do a postgame solo spot from around 5:30 to 5:50 when Holmes took over. After predictably declaring that today's game didn't mean anything, and that the Cubs would win "13-15 out of 20" against the Sox, Bernstein took two or three calls. He berated one Sox fan for feeling good about the win ("why would you want the team to win when they are trying to have the worst record? For six years you watched the Cubs Plan work to perfection!"). Then another guy suggested Maddon should put a high OBP guy at leadoff and Bernstein condescendingly said Heyward was fine in that spot ("who would YOU want in that spot? Rizzo was a novelty and Zobrist sucks"). The caller finally shut DB up by suggesting Jon Jay.

You know it's uncomfortable radio when you're thankful for Leary's shift starting.

The Score's become Hub Arkush/Bears Sports radio from the 1980s. Hosts putting down callers since the hosts think they are the smartest people in the room. What a cry from the original score days when the station was catered for the fan and the fan opinion drove the radio station.

Can't get cocky. The Cubs are still a capable team.

Yup.

Broke the longest baseball city losing streak in history!

MANY "fans" don't care what happened to the Cubs before 2015.

This reminds me of what shit baseball organizations we had in Chicago for the last half of the last century. From 1946 - 2000 you had only 1 pennant won and zero WS.

In Schwarber's last 12 starts, all from the 5th spot in the order, he has 3 RBI via 3 solo HR. Even his recent .840 OPS doesn't result in much offense right now.

If the Cubs don't tee off on Rodon (who is fucking terrible), this could get ugly.

Yeah, I mean Rodon can't use his fastball to set up his breaking stuff because his placement on the fastball is generally right over the middle of the plate. I won't actually sit and watch his starts, because he's basically the only pitcher on this godforsaken roster that makes me openly hostile. I haven't disliked a starter this much since Gavin Floyd.

That said, if he sits on sliders to some of the free swingers in the Cubs lineup (Baez), he'll have like 2 strikeouts to go along with the easy 6 earned runs he'll give up.
