That's a shame. One of the best playwrights since WWII, and one who gave regional characters a voice. Had no idea he had ALS.

This seems like an appropriate time to bring up a win/loss argument.

Well, Shepard had more playwright wins (produced plays) than Shakespeare. Hence, Shepard > Shakespeare.

Who'd have thought that Chuck Yeager would've outlived him?

It will be a sad moment when I next sit glued to watch The Right Stuff

Damnit if that woman isn't all-around awesome.

his plays didn't always translate well into films. "silent tongue" sticks out as one of the most shockingly bad and poorly executed films i've ever seen.

but he did have quite a drive and was a very well respected playwright. i never got to see one of his plays live...that would've been nice.

good actor too.

My Right Stuff guy tells me that he and Levon Helm spent the entire shoot sneaking off and getting high.

Never saw one either, but read some that weren't made into movies. Buried Child was one that kind of threw me. Great piece of work.

Levon was great in Shooter as well. I would have loved to have met them both

Wasn't it essentially about writing credits & money, plus the "exhaustion" of being in a band back then?
