I think it's a good move. Let's get all of the hotshot prospects up as soon as possible.

He may be a bullpen arm long-term but let him fail as a starter first.

Only idiot Sox fans believe calling up a prospect in a dead season and losing a year of control is a good move.

You're a cubs fan and not a Sox fan so it's easy for you to say this. The service time isn't really an issue since it's only a problem if he's good, and then it becomes a good problem. Real fans are tired of seeing guys like Holland, shields, and pelfrey. Seeing Lopez will be a welcome sight and a rare reason to watch.

This and the Moncada call up are also sending clear signals that they are more concerned about actually rebuilding than about saving money on a payroll six years from now, which is obviously good.

I don't think you understand how service time works.

It's a fairly simple concept. Troll elsewhere

Are you sure you do? I'm pretty sure he's a free agent in 2023 no matter what.

This season is dead. He already looks like he will be good. Wait until September if you want to get a look at him. This is dumb unless the Sox sign him to a contract extension next season for pennies.

Uncle Jerry is always concerned about payroll.

His clock has already started. He pitched in the big leagues last year. It's time for him to come up.

Jerry will be 87 six years from now. Realistic to assume he might be around at that point.

Well, the one thing the front office has shown an ability to do is get guys to sign team friendly extensions.

But aside from that, I'm not really worried about 5-6 years from now. If he's good I have no doubt they will get him extended before then.

I just noticed they called him up in July. He should have been up here then.

He also thinks the Bears will win 10 games this year.

That's why you bring him up. It's a dead season anyway. You can't worry about an extra year of control. They need to see what they have with the young guys.

Good to see it's just the jealous Cub fans who dislike this move. That makes sense

You've made like 5 posts in the Sox section since 2005. We aren't going to welcome you back on the backwagon now that they have the brightest future in sports.

I've discussed the Sox more than the Cubs. I avoid most of the baseball discussion because it turns into Cubs vs Sox. I haven't watched as many games as I normally do this year either.

One of the things that I've appreciated about the Sox is that they don't fuck around when it comes to their prospects. If it's a guy that they deem to be in the plans then they will call them up too soon as opposed to late. The problem was that either they'd overrate guys or they really weren't of the blue chip variety. The last time I can remember them having the sort of depth in the minors that they have now was the late 80's early 90's group.
