Seems like a nice kid. The Twitter love is a little weird since its obviously about his weight and honestly that's a pretty big health problem.

Meet Little League baseball’s 220-pound sensation
By Kirsten Fleming August 8, 2017 | 2:17pm | Updated

Meet Jeffrey “Boog” Powell, the newest Little Leaguer to lasso America’s heart.

Image
The Tennessee 12-year-old stands at an imposing 5-foot-2 and 220 pounds and looks every bit like a fearless slugger with swagger.

Image

And although he’s no relation to that other Boog, the Baltimore Orioles great — or to the A’s newly acquired Powell — when he stepped up to the plate Monday night during the Little League Southeast Regional semifinals, he immediately became the object of Twitter affection.

Barstool Rocky Top @BarstoolTenn
S/o to Boog Powell, Tennessean and the new face of Little League baseball.
7:59 PM - Aug 7, 2017

Even former Giants quarterback Jared Lorenzen, known as the “Hefty Lefty,” threw his support in Powell’s corner.

Unlike Georgia’s Jayce Blalock, who hit a grand slam into the trees Sunday, Powell grounded out to first base.

But we all saw his hustle as he sprinted like a freight train toward first base. His sister took to Twitter to make sure we knew we were witnessing the biggest heart in Little League.

Replying to @BrianSimpsonKY @JaredLorenzen22
im Jeffrey's sister , he may be bigger than average but watch him tomorrow night out hustle everyone else - & that's what counts in my book.
9:38 PM - Aug 7, 2017

Unfortunately, his squad eventually fell to North Carolina, 4-2. But even if he didn’t launch any rockets, Boog’s clearly the heart and soul of the team, even when he’s not wearing cardboard cups on his ears. ESPN should hire him as a special correspondent in Williamsport, Pa., for the rest of the tournament.

its funny sure but underneath all the chris farley esque feel goods is disappointment and sympathy for the life this kid's parents have doomed him to.

hopefully. but it just depends on the culture he surrounds himself. or that his parent surrounds him with. doesn't seem like a great start but who can say.

That dugout doesn't go to the marshmallow room, it goes to the fudge room!

Seriously this exposure will backfire and he'll probably be shamed into losing the weight.

or they'll run it off him in football maybe.

It certainly is. Maybe even negligence or abuse?

On second thought, we should be embarrassed for body shaming this young man. I'm sure it's not his fault . :?

It won't be long before a diagnosis of diabetes will be considering body shaming and the offending doctor will no longer be able to practice medicine.

Not a single 'Schwarber' or 'Truffle Shuffle' reference in this thread yet. Very sad.

5'2" is pretty short for a 12-year old.

My youngest is 12 and at least 5'6" and I don't feel he's exceptionally tall.

That's a stout young man.

I think I was around 5'4 at that age. Roughly. It would have taken almost three of me to weigh 220. I was a stick mind you.

Right.

Someone who is 5'2" and 12 years old should probably top out at 100-115 pounds. 220 pounds at that height and age is insane.
