Imagine if you rearranged them:

Why do I turn on the Cubs game and see that Wade Davis is pitching in a blowout?

He hasn't pitched in a week. At least it feels like it.

Yup. Crazy that people are still saying they would take him over Rodon

I dont think anyone is still saying that.

At least that was not my opinion in that discussion. Who has done more so far and who would you take going forward are two different things. I've been a huge Rodon fan and predictor of Rodon success since before he was even drafted

Is it fair to question if Schwarbers injury was a concern? Trading Sale for him probably would have been bad.

After the WS, Kyle's trade value was as high as ever. I don't remember reading Sale for Schwarber, but Jed Epstein could have landed a big haul for him back then. Hindsight and all that.

I dont think it would have been a big concern since his value is like 99% in his bat and the bat looked great in the WS.

Of course, that was only 4 games

But let's say someone was concerned and a bunch of Cubs fans gave him grief. Would it have actually been ok to question the effect of the injury?

In this hypothetical question, did the guy question his hitting in general or just his power because he failed to homer in a four game sample?

Both.

Ate you really going to try and be obtuse leash and act like asking primarily about the power of a power hitter is not talking about his hitting? Are you willing to do this when even his home run numbers will be disappointing?

His lack of home runs in the World Series clearly showed a different hitter.

Rick, it was four games. You do realize that if a hitter hit a home run every 4 games, he'd have 40 homers, right? And he was coming off a huge injury.

This isn't a defense of Schwarber. It's just a defense of sample size. Schwarber is performing at a similar level to his entire regular season career, and it's not good. But his WS performance was not at all a predictor of his future performance.

Either way, it's semantics.

The conversation began and ended with Hahn asking for Bryant in the Sale trade.

So sticking with the idea that his injury wasn't a concern?

Why didn't you tell me then he was actually just bad at baseball? I then would not have wanted to trade him for Chris Sale.

If you ever, at any time in his career, were seriously willing to trade Chris Sale for Schwarber, you should definitely not be a GM.

Yup. Hahn did the right thing asking for Bryant. Can't blame Theo for holding onto the lesser player in order to retain the championship core though.

Just couple weeks ago Schwarber hit 162 professional games played. Terrible power numbers .
