You can discuss it without the primary source. I mean, this board is a bunch of blowhards who speak with great authority on all kinds of stuff. Adding "yeah, Bernstein is a dumbass" to someone quoting him on that day's show isn't really a reach for us.
Wouldn't it be weird if I claimed to never watch Blackhawks games but I also can speak definitively about them?

If you haven't watched Mike Trout play an inning this season, you can still discuss his MVP credentials. And your opinion is no less or more valid than the person who has watched all ~75 games he's played this year.

I'll never understand why some of you get upset at people criticizing a radio show.

And it's absolutely possible to know what's happening on a show without listening often. This board points out every dumb thing they say... so by everyone just listening occasionally, you can easily get the cliff notes of what they're saying.

And if people are listening out of hatred, who cares?

Your opinion is CLEARLY less valid.

Oh I forgot, people used to get mad at this show for "not watching games" but talking about them. I guess it's ok to "not listen to the show" though.

No, I'm saying there are other ways to be informed about Mike Trout's performance without watching Mike Trout.

There are, but in most cases watching the stats happen in real time is going to be more informed than just studying the stats.

Your original post didnt mention any study of the stats though.

Brick said you shouldn't have an opinion without listening at first. Not that you should't have a less valid one.

Why would you trust anyone who is blindly regurgitating the opinions of others as informed?

We all love sports and sports talk radio, or at least 95% of us on this forum do, so even if you have sworn off the show there will likely be times when you'll listen. The only times I listen are during transition, since it appears with S&P podcasts, and if I am driving a short distance. If I am driving much more than 10 minutes I will listen to some other podcast. Just about every time I listen to any part of the show I come to the same conclusion- Goff has made the show HORRIBLE. And this is coming from a daily listener of B&B for years. If Goff is out and there's a sub, I listen. Bernstein and Rozner is my favorite combination on the Score.

That is in reference to thinking everything about the show is terrible. That sounds like it doesn't describe you.

The biggest horror I experienced in Evanston was a botched snap on a punt at the end of NU vs Miami of Ohio game in 95.

they'd have been undefeated (in the reggalar season) if not for that. and blowing that huge lead.

Yep. Couldn't believe it. That team wasn't good enough to be undefeated but they did find ways to win. I'm also not sure they don't win the Rose Bowl if Fitz didn't break his leg vs Iowa and the kicker didn't blow out his knee during the Wisconsin blowout.

I think most think Goff is terrible, but the only critique of Bernstein (in terms of being unlistenable) is his social causes. I think most acknowledge that Bernstein can be interesting even if he's interesting in an unlikeable way. Like wrestling, media needs bad guys too.
