I included the best pitcher I've ever seen. Not all of us are as old as JORR, leash, and Walt.

Did you close your eyes when Randy Johnson was pitching?

Too much drama. Let's get back to sports.

Chris Sale probably won't win the MVP this year but he should.

Watson will be better than (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky

Chris Simms on the Parkins show had some interesting takes yesterday on the Watson/(Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky debate. I have to see both in the regular season to decide. Coming into the league, Watson seems to have the maturity and leadership advantage, whereas (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky is more talented but still needs work on the mental aspect of the position.

It's Altuve's award to lose in the eyes of voters (no way they want to give a rookie the MVP) but I agree Sale is far and away the best player in the AL, and without him the Sawx are battling the Angels for a wild card spot.

Random thought I've had for years: If Roberto Clemente hadn't been killed in the plane crash at the end of 1972, he would have been playing in 1973 as the DH was starting in the AL. In 1976, there was expansion. If Clemente's back holds up, does he eventually go to the AL and DH, and if so does he get to 4000 hits?

I think a stronger argument can be made that this qb class may end up being the best qb class since the Rivers/Eli/Roethlisberger class though that one will be better.

I'll take (Pro Bowl QB) Trubisky, Watson, and either Mahomes or Kizer as being long time quality starters.

He may have gotten to somewhere in the mid 3000's, but I don't think he would have had a chance at 4,000 unless he played till the age of 45 and still remained productive. He died when he was 38, and would have turned 39 the following season. I just don't see how he had any shot at 4k.

Well if we are going to play that "plane doesn't crash game" Thurman Munson is in the HOF

JLN mentioned on this podcast that the NBA draft lottery is dumb and actually does the opposite of the stated intention, which I believe he felt was to discourage tanking. Personally, I think that the lottery should be expanded for all teams and weighted in such a way that there is very little benefit to finishing dead last because that worst team has a small chance of getting the top pick versus the field.

For instance, have a lottery for every pick. Don't just do it for the top three and then order it by record after that.

The NBA could have some fun with the "lottery" and do some kind of mini-tournament to see who gets next years #1 pick.

For example: All teams not qualifying for the playoffs play a single elimination (March Madness style) tournament. The winner of the tournament gets the #1 pick.

The punter on that Marshall team that went down in the tragic blimp crash was being touted by several tv watchers as a future Hall of Famer.

Yeah, my thinking is just that "rewarding" the worst teams with the best possible picks is the least restrictive, and probably quickest way to get teams out of the conference cellars. I'm of the mind that telling teams with bad rosters "you won't be drafting high, just sign better guys" is how you get Omer Asik with a contract worth $80 million.

Why not just have all the non playoff teams have equal shot in the lottery?

That's where I ended up as well, around 3600 and ending as the part-time DH on the expansion Blue Jays teams.

The only terrible thought here is someone attempting to glean meaning from preseason.
