Question is when Russell is back where do you put Baez? I think he's getting use to SS now. You could tell when he first got started at short he need to get use to it (@SF) but now it looks like he's a quick learner.

You pull your hair out with Baez at the plate but when he's on he's so damn exciting to watch hitting and fielding. I think the last 2 games I jumped off my couch when Baez made incredible plays. Also he seems like a nice guy so you want to root for him to succeed even more.

Move Russell to 2B and let him bulk up.

Win-Win.

Baez goes back to 2nd until he shows that he can make routine plays for a month.

Since TIMMMMAAAY Anderson is a bust, I would have no problem sending Barry Larkin 2.0 to the south side and bringing back Eloy Jimenez to his rightful home.

Nobody is going to trade the next Andrew Dawson away.

In so many ways he is like a Dunston part 2. Different player but has some of the same oh shit moments, both good and bad, as Shawon.

If i remember correctly Dunston was pretty solid at the end of his career w/ the Giants.

Also remember the Cubs rushed Dunston in 85. He really should have played another year in the minors.

He trashed his back in the early 90's and wasn't really the same after. I remember him and Dawson warming each other up before games with long toss. Those men had canons for arms.

Dunston was legendarily bad at a curve ball. HoF curve ball-misser.

Baez is slightly better at this age.

You do realize, if you took Sammy Sosa's bat and put that in a GG infielder like Baez, that's a pretty fucking good player.

You can have the heaviest bat in the world but if you can't lay off the down and low slider 3 inches out of the strike zone it won't matter much.

Shorty after coming to Cubs Sammy solved that by using his opposite field power(chemically aided, perhaps).

Baez already has more HR's this year than Dunston's career high. He reminds me more of Jose Hernandez.

Grace married this girl from Iowa when he was w/ the Iowa cubs. She divorced him and took most of what he got. Only to latch onto Ray Liotta of Goodfellas fame. Gracey lucked out on that one but good life planning to make it rich by a iowa farm girl.

For the record, i lost respect for Grace when his 'slumpbusting' business became public. Very disrespectful to women.

Yes. Poor strike Zone recognition on breaking balls with no where near the power of Baez. Baez has his streaks though of slider swing and miss that rivals Dunston. But it's hard to take away 11 year old squirrel's love of Dunston. He might of been my first " if only he'd... than he'd be a great player" player.

I'd like to also add the hustle/energy component.

Along with the missed breaking stuff. He's special.

Yup.

The Cubs are a team of good guys. If they didn't play baseball, they'd be an accounting firm. Baez brings moxy that the others don't have, and it was very evident during the playoffs. I suppose that brings the bad (inconsistency) with the good (the mindset that he will teabag the opponent and laugh about it).

Baez is the accountant that thinks $1.27 is close enough to reconcile.

But he gets shit done quick.

It's funny. I remember him striking out a lot. His career average per 162 games is all of 89 strikeouts. Damn times change.
