Of course a steak is a higher quality cut of meat that's more expensive. That doesn't mean that some people don't enjoy the taste of a burger more.

Food, by its very nature, is completely a matter of opinion, and yet there's always someone there to tell you what the "right" answer is.

Actually, I don't think anyone in this thread has been that abrasive outside of maybe Bob, who is half kidding anyway.

What did you expect? Replace steak with granola bar in the title.... everyone would be overwhelmingly picking burger. Same concept.

Well now it is you and Bob.

What did I say that hurt your feelings?

Granola bar to burger is the same as burger to steak.

Well, your post is necessarily just as abrasive then. Poor veganfan might quit the board now

I almost never get a steak when we eat out; raising our own beef and having a freezer full of steaks at home seems to temper my enthusiasm for having restaurant-cooked steak. I love the flavor of ours, and usually eat the beef with no sauce added at all.

That said, I could literally eat a burger for every meal, every day. Hell, I used to be a frequent customer of Hot-N-Now, home of the $0.39 hamburger. (The animal we make the sandwich from is extinct- the cow? Think smaller- the pig? Think more legs...).

I just finished a steak tartare sandwich for my first meal of today, how does that fit into the poll/vote?

Boom!

I would only change pepper jack to cheddar (mild - not too sharp) and add a bit of mayo on the bottom bun with a Hershey's Kiss.

Exactly.

Any monkey-ass can make a fucking great burger at home.

You can't make a great steak at home because 99% certainty that you can't buy the required meat.

I'm sorry you're poor

Right?

Steak every time. I'm a filet guy. You can buy a single filet for like $7 ($6 on sale at the Jewels) or if you want a bigger one, it'll set you back like $11. Season it with kosher salt and pepper, let it sit on there for 10 minutes, fire up your cast iron pan, three to four minutes per side, then 400 degrees in the oven until thermometer reads 140 (or so, depending on how you like it). It's quick and delicious. It'll rival many restaurants, except for the major expensive players like Capital Grille, Joe's, Cut, etc...

That's how I felt as a kid when my stepfather was an elite shoplifter and we often dined on Porterhouse on Tuesday nights.

I believe on the 2 for $20 menu. Combine that with a tasty artichoke dip appetizer and a dessert to share and you can't go wrong. I was always a Ruby Tuesday fan myself though...

Gross.

Agreed on Ruby Tuesday, though... salad bar = success.

Joe, what metrics did you use to grade him at "elite" level shoplifter status? Did you go by the volume/quantity/quality of what he stole? Or just if he managed to "win" the battle with that particular store's security on a given day?

Capital Grille had what I honestly think was the worst ribeye I've ever had.

You can get a "ribeye" at The Dollar Tree.

I wasn't using advanced metrics, just TWTS (The Will To Steal). I can only judge by how well I ate. He did get caught once at the A&P at Church and East Prairie. It was somewhat embarrassing when it hit the Blotter in the Skokie Review.

Yeah, you don't eat steak at applebee's... Hell, I don't eat applebees if I can avoid it which I think I have for all but 3 times in my life.

I had a burger at a local place that was something like a 1/2 pound patty, guacomole, some weird fiesta street corn thing, chorizo and some sort of cheese. It was darn tasty, especially with the bourbon sangria. That being said the wife's burger that had poutine on it was probably better. But I hesitate to even call them burgers.. There more disasters on a bun as they end up falling apart forcing you to eat the remains up with a fork. Its just too much for the bun to handle.

Honestly, if you choose to eat at Applebees, T.G.I. Fridays or the like, you have no soul and should never speak on food.

I actively avoid places like Applebee's/TGIF/Chili's etc, but we went to TGIF recently because it was so close to where we were... and the chicken and shrimp dish I got was actually decent. I couldn't believe it. Not gourmet, but also not as horrible as I thought it'd be.
