I honest to God don't believe Jason or anything that goes on at that station anymore. It wouldn't shock me in the least if that was a fake call to drum up news. How many times has Julie posted on something about an interaction with someone that it's completely obvious she's lying? The "#1 last book" quip was most certainly referencing the station's overall share, and "trending that way" likely means they're still behind where it counts: in the key demo when compared to WMVP, as the last quarterly breakdown showed.

670 plays fast and loose with their bragging of the books during baseball season. They are beating 1000 during what is considered the afternoon drive, but neglect to say those numbers are boosted heavily by Cubs day games. The real story comes to light again once Cubs baseball ends and W&S kicks their asses both overall and in the demo (which is what advertisers care about)

Whatever boost they receive from Cubs still doesn't make up for the $10 million in rights they pay each year.

Here's the thing, though: When they were getting ratings in the low-2's in the early Spring, people from the station said "overall share doesn't matter, it's what you do in the demo that counts". Which is true for the talk radio business. But now that we know that they've lost, and lost rather soundly, to WMVP in the first quarter's books in the key demo from 2-6 PM, now we're hearing about how they're "#1 in [overall share] ratings". That's pretty much the definition of playing "fast and loose" with metrics.

Didn't B&G also win the key demo from 1-6?

WMVP won the 2-6p time slot in the key demo by a wide margin, WSCR won 1-6p by a tenth of a share.
