Years ago, a friend of mine said that HRI will periodically sell the "ugly" pizzas from their factory for $2 a piece -- I don't know how ugly they are but it is a decent frozen pizza, and I don't particularly care what it looks like (I guess I would care if there was a hole in the crust that all the toppings fell to the bottom of my oven.)

In college we would always eat the $1 pizza... it was the size of a dinner plate and the bottom of it had vent holes poked throughout. That was another case where picking up a little extra shredded cheese to put on top was a good call.

I like that Screamin Sicilian, but I think I like their strombolis even more... the pesto chicken is really good and same with the sausage/pepperoni one.

Totinos is the absolute worst.

Congrats on finding the one frozen pizza worse than Diogiorno.

I used to like the Totinos pizza roll things. I had a circular pan I could throw 8-9 of them into, and I'd microwave a little bit of spaghetti sauce in a coffee mug and pour it over. Then Totinos changed their recipe (along with the "chicken, pork, and beef" sausage shift) and I haven't had one since.

I haven't cooked a frozen pizza in at least 20 years. That doesn't mean I don't like cheap pizza, I've been known to get two slices at Speedway for $1.99 on a Saturday when they have a special going.

I was a Domino's guy for delivery at Illinois, but Pizza World delivered later. For Pizza World, I'd only order cheese and have to tell them extra sauce. Pizza delivery to FAR on a Sunday night was a zoo. 1300 teenagers and 1000 of them were ordering pizza in a three hour window. Papa Del's was for a group \dinner once in a while, but if I was alone I was more likely to get two thick slices from Garcia's across from Altgeld if the weather was good and I had a little money left.

The Kirkland/Costco frozen pizza is awful. The one that isn't frozen is decent.

Yes, but there are reports of some stores overdoing the oil because they want to make sure they're meeting requirements or something out of corporate.

I was in a Costco last night with an open kitchen concept. Thru the window you could watch a machine that looked like an old record player, automatically sauce the pizza. It started on the outside in a circle, until it finished in the middle. The saucing arm came up, and went back to the edge just like the old record player arms did.

Naperville Costco? I was there last night.

Ah, ok. Your open kitchen comment about the pizza machine was funny because I noticed the exact same thing last night when I was there.

one day i had to go pick up some stuff for my brothers wedding at the local restaurant food supply place. as i went down one of the frozen aisles, what did i spy? a case of the rectangle school pizzas in the scratch and dent (yeah i know) section.

19 bucks later i had 96 slices of this nostalgic delicacy.

it was so good in a toaster oven. my wife was not happy about the freezer space it consumed though
