Honestly, I agree...We still hit the Friday's by me every now and again at lunch time because I like their French Onion soup, plus, they do have a decent beer selection. The Friday's by me is always packed after about 4 because of what I always call the "Lake County Tourist Zone", right by Gurnee Mills, and the hotels where the families from Great Lakes all stay right there.

Admittedly, we go to Hooters quite a bit, because my daughter will happily eat Mac & Cheese and color or play with her flash cards...and I can get out of there cheaper than any of the local options by me...

Yeah, it took a a lot of arguing but I finally got the wife to agree on adding Hooter's to our rotation. I could care less about the girls, the food is actually damn good. Plus they are tame now compared to places like Titled Kilt. I believe they wear pantie hoes, or at least I think they do, I'm pretty sure.

I basically agree. If at all possible I rather be at a non-chain establishment making quality delicious food. The only time I end up in these places is if just the two of us grabbing a drink and appetizer while shopping or between two stops. The second way is when you have anywhere between 2-6 adultish children with you and you want to be in and out, have a variety of menu choices and do not want to drop $300+.

It's interesting - some people love their wings and some hate them. Seems like there's no in between.

I don't like them, personally.

So let's combine BBQ and a burger....mmmmm

6954 N Western at Pitt BBQ. Good stuff. Is better than most steaks.

I enjoy a fancy burger now and again, but a good basic American burger is good eats for the buck. I was at Mic Duck's Drive In at Kimball and Belmont once and had a surprisingly great burger and commented this to who I believe was owner and wife. He is of foreign decent and commented on the beauty of the combination of meat/cheese and condiments found on this American original. Thought that was a great description.

Definitely steak. I'm very particular about wings. I actually prefer a dry rub, and I like grilled wings rather than fried. There was a place right down the street when we lived in CT that had GREAT grilled wings that you could get with a dry rub. I hate wings where buffalo sauce is just caked on after they're fried. They're disgusting.

Steak.
The burgers I make at home are awesome 90% of the time.
My personal success rate with steak is not so good.
I don't have a grill, so I usually make tenderloins, because I have no idea
how to cook a bone-in steak on a stove top or oven.
Tenderloin is pretty boring. Gimme a great bone-in ribeye anyday.

Ideally, a great steak tastes the same as a great steak.

A great burger tastes better than the last one

I tried tilling my graden with a couple of pantie hoes and all that resulted was a giant boner.

So, because of this thread, we went to TGI Friday's last night. I had to test Caller Bob's theory of chain restaurant steak.

I ordered their ribeye and (against my better judgment), ordered it medium rare.

They brought out a piece of meat that looked like a deformed sausage patty and asked me to cut into it to make sure it was done properly. I cut into it, and it was completely black... very well done. So I told them it wasn't done properly. They took it back, and about ten minutes later, brought me another one that looked exactly the same. I cut into it again, and it was the exact same. I didn't feel like dealing with it, so I just told them it was fine and drenched it in steak sauce. It was awful.

I love ya' Bob, but I have no idea how you could actually eat steak at these places on a regular basis.

They probably melted the original one back together and sent it back out.

I've had the burger at Smith & Wollensky on several occasions. It's fine, but I'm probably not the best guy to ask. No offense to Telegram Sam, but personally my preferred burger style isn't the pub burger. I like a skinny patty cooked on a griddle until it's crusty. I think this is the popular style in The Region. Hank? Eaglo?

Props for using The Region.

That is the way Schoops does it and they are the biggest local burger chain out here. It's a damn good burger.

I miss Schoops!

JORR a Cub fan and a region guy! I like him more and more 8)

There was/is a thread about this burger, the one made from ground brisket ends. The restaurant was actually Rubs' Back Country BBQ, the owner bought that neon from another restaurant and didn't alter it. They've since "re-concepted" into a whole animal type affair. I think the burger has fallen off the menu, sadly. Shakes, BigFan, JORR, me , maybe Midget all sung its praises.
