It was lose-lose for them, just like it is for everyone. Either you're a frothing at the mouth antifa, or you're at best going to be laughed at. There is no room for moderation any more, just trying to stay out of it is impossible.

Kind of reminds me of the story from a few years ago where a government official in charge of finances was fired for using the word niggardly in terms of his oversight of finances. He used the word correctly. The word is unrelated to the racial slur. However, he was fired because the words sounded similar.

You better not use that word even though it doesn't share any etymology with the racial epithet. Better to stick with "parsimonious".

I agree with that point. Better to just steer clear but curbing precise language causes problems.

Can QCP be fired for this then? Not for using the n word but rather the unabashed ass kissing

He was quoting, you obfuscating piece of shit. Maybe if your IQ was anywhere near those of my bro, Pat and me you would be smarter. Pat minored in linguistics so believe me, he knows more about that word than you can dream and he would never use it in a derogatory way. But you already knew that and you're just casting aspersions on a good man. SO FUCK YOU! I majored in ass-kicking of you want some of this!

I read that trash article and once again came to the conclusion that while ESPN sucks, Clay Travis remains infinitely more DBOTW-worthy.

My very dear Sarah:

The indications are very strong that we shall move to Charlottesville for the game in a few days—perhaps tomorrow.

The memes attacking my name have grown strong, but I have managed to endure them despite the objections of my employer.

O Sarah, I wait for you there! Come to me, and lead thither my children in the land of the obnoxious memes.

Yours,

Robert Lee, ESPN

I remember that letter from the Civil War series; very emotional.

Sounds pretty anti-parsimonite to me.

It's kinda weird, to me, "Robert E. Lee" is such a famous name that just seeing "Robert Lee" doesn't even make me think of the E.

I grew up with two Robert E. Lees. They spelled their last names differently than the general--they spelled their surnames in a much more Irish way, but I'm not gonna spell it here in case someone googles them--but it did always strike me as a little strange.

We weren't concerned. We just came to him out of concern and made him concerned. Luckily he chose a game that will take him hours to get home from rather than the game that will take him hours to get home from. No person would want to get stuck in a beautiful college town with a party atmosphere as the students are coming back to school.

I actually believe this was more incompetence than it was any other agenda.

ESPN has become a strawman for many political arguments(TOO LIBERAL, TOO ACCEPTING OF BLACK LIVES MATTER AND WOMENS MARCH, FIRED CURT SCHILLING!). They thought they were avoiding another thing and instead made it 10x worse.

i halfway enjoy clay travis and colin cowherd. i know what they are, and don't expect them to be any different but i enjoy the going against the grain a little bit even though sometimes its a bit much.

this morning they had a discussion regarding this and Colin i think laid it out pretty well. ESPN is very volatile right now. they had massive layoffs, people are not happy with decisions being made, and they are no longer the rudder of sports media. espn radio is just a disaster and espn programing outside of sports is not a ratings boon any longer. sports media is near rudderless and espn is kind of frantic and because of that you have internal decisions getting leaked by employees who 10 years ago would of NEVER done that. companies make those types of decisions all the time unbeknownst to anyone.
