We were just talking first 4 seasons.

Battle of the Bastards was ok. It followed the same formula as all other Jon Snow battles. Jon's forces are outnumbered but fight valiantly until it looks like all is lost. Then someone else comes in and saves the day.

It was meh. The giant let himself get easily surrounded and then showed he was strong enough to break the gates of Winterfell and take 4 dozen arrows. Just charge thru and break the spear wall.

Battle of Bastards storyline was just ok but the actual battle was awesome.

Better than Hardhome. I like human vs human battles.

Thought Hardome was very good, it showed how hard it is going to be to
defeat the undead. And it was pretty bad ass when he just reanimated all the wildlings.

A better plan would be to freeze the gateway entrance under the wall, like John wanted to do when the Wildlings where going to attack the wall.

Then, defend the wall the best they could and retreat when the Whitewalkers inevitable take the wall. Keep retreating south and lead the Shadow King straight to Kings Landing. Why bring just one wight, when you can bring the whole dam army to Cercei?

The current plot is only going to make Cercei think she can make some alliance with the Shadow King and get everyone killed. The only thing in life she has left to fight for is the Iron Throne. She is not giving that up just because someone brings her a pet zombie. She will see it as an opportunity to get the upper hand on Dany.

Bring her the whole damn army and she will have no choice but to fight with the North and Dany to preserve her survival. Then worry about the original threats later after Dany's and John's forces are depleted by the White Walkers.

Another bonus of this type of strategy is you can gather all the troops from the Wall to Kings Landing during your retreat. Use guerilla tactics as you go to Kings Landing and not lose all the troops from large battles if you fought at every castle along the way. This way you are preparing for one last stand in Kings Landing and not giving the shadow king time to resurrect everyone you lost during multiple large scale battles that you are going to lose anyway.
