This will be a hard series for the Cubs even at home. The Pirates have played them good all year.

Bucs are 7 back and they're think they got to take at least 2/3 to stay in it.

Monty and Jake starting the first 2 games. Must wins since Q will pitch the last game of the series.

2/3 bucs.

Theon Epstein traded a younger Giancarlo Stanton for that

Even if the Bucs sweep, they are probably out of this race. Can't be 7 or 8 games under .500 and expect to contend.

Is that the latest comparison? I heard Jermaine Dye.

Theo is betting he's Jorge Soler.

I think the hitters now know when Quintana pitches they have to score at least 5-6 runs the first 3 innings even to have a chance.

If this fucker is down 3/4/5/6 runs after 2 on Wednesday, then Joe needs to sit him down the next start and go with Monty when Lester is back in the rotation.

I wish Butler had not gone on the DL. He pitched pretty well earlier this year and he was doing great in AAA. I would take him any day over Lackey and maybe even Q. Tseng is ready to rock n roll if they have the balls to call him up.

Butler was ok when he was up. He was a decent #5 back in May. I dont know if you could count on someone so young in September. I think Lackey is still good. The team was 6-0 in his starts after the ASB until today. Lackey has the experience in Sept and October. I would not count him out.

He is still on the DL so it doesn't matter. Tseng has been good with some walks in Iowa. I would rather see him get a shot than see Lackey give up another 6 because he cant keep the ball in the god damn yard. Lackey would be a great long man but he is too damn arrogant to accept a role other than starting.

Carasiti and Maples are both dealing in the pen down there too and I would love to see them over some of the shit sandwiches up here now....RONDON.

Maples isn't on the 40 man nor is Tseng which could be a problem. I wish they could put Zagunis and Mills on the 60 day DL and open 2 40 man spots but because they are in the minors I don't think they can do that...they would have to activate them, call them up, 60 day DL them and then get penalized draft picks for fucking with the DL.

I'm more concerned about Quintana than Lackey.

the expectation was higher with quintana. he was brought in to secure the rotation. lackey is supposed to be a "get-me-over" guy, and he wouldn't be considered for the playoff rotation. quintana was going to not only be a part of it, but maybe even considered the guy to start game 2 of a playoff series. it's not looking good at all.

Only fools thought that. Anyone who has followed Chicago baseball for the last several years knows what Q was/is.

I dont think there was ever any chance of Q starting a game before Lester or Jake

Not sure who has the greatest job in the world, but Gary Pressey has to be in the team photo.

Maybe Lester should take a couple more starts off to really make sure his arm is ok .

Maples better be up. Don't know much about Carasiti. Wasn't that impressed with Butler and Lackey is "juiced in" with his buddy Lester on the team.

Monty has like 70 or so pitches. Don't fuck this up Joe and pinch hit for him if he is up this inning.

Yeah. The quick hook with how horse shitty the bullpen has been of late concerns me.

Win with Jake tomorrow

Then when we're down 7-0 after 2 on Wednesday it won't feel as bad.

They were doing a tribute to the guy who directs/produces the games. He's retiring so they aired his direction.
