This would have never happened if Fox displayed more passion as coach. Flip off the refs or something, I mean show some damn emotion.

Pretty devastating injury for this team. Easily the best WR on the team

It was devastating to watch if you haven't seen it yet, FF.

Not sure, but both of these would be good for the fake band names thread.

Meredith shouldn't have been playing in this meaningless preseason game to begin with.

Why not save your star starters for when it really counts? Meredith didn't need the reps. White did.

Coach Fox is not too bright. He's twelve short of a dozen.

White's a starter also.

Bill Belichick plays his starters in the pre-season as does every coach in the league. They also practice during the week. Only way you stop injuries in a physical sport is by not playing at all. My suspicion is that if John Fox decided to not play (or practice) his top 25 players, and they lose the first 2 games of the year because, in part, they look out of rhythm, etc., you'd also be complaining about that.

They are going to have to be trolling the waiver wires for WR's...on final cut down day. Practice squads too..while I am a fan of Pace, he has once again let the WR position decay just like the Jerry Angelo era.

I also feel like Pace really missed the boat by not aggressively pursuing Terrell Pryor.

There's no getting around physical contact in football, but you know what you have already with Meredith. Having him take reps against the Titans in pre-season is not going to help him be a better player. I would rather keep out my best assets for these pre-season games, play the guys that need the most work and those that are on the bubble, and be as healthy as possible come the regular season. Your offense is crippled when you lose your best receiver.

It's rare that the Bears get off to a fast start anyway in the regular season. Even if you want to argue that point, the playing field is level for everyone. Rhythm is more a factor of good personnel and chemistry than reps. You can get those reps in practice without having to be in full pads.

There is no point to argue. The pre-season is for practice and getting your timing down. EVERY team needs it. Perhaps you criticized Belichik for playing Edelman and I missed it though.

Your disappointment is understandable. Your ripping on Fox for doing his job is not.

A lot of bad thoughts here about not having Meredith play in the pre season game. He is a newish receiver out of nowhere. He is not Michael Irvin that just shows up and is great. In spite of people complaining about the price and number of these games they and camp are necessary.

I love the "bad thoughts" attacks.

It confirms I am right and those who use them don't have an argument.

No one said Meredith is Michael Irvin. But no one disagrees he is/was the best Bears receiver. That should make you extra careful with him, should it not?

The purpose of pre-season is to get ready for the regular season. That can still be done by holding out your best assets. Because of the owners' money grab of charging regular season prices for pre-season game tickets, we all have to suffer through these games. But I don't think you are any better prepared playing against other teams than practicing against yourselves, ones versus ones, twos versus twos and so on. There are no pre-season games in college, and the college teams seem to do just fine without them.

You know how divided this board is. When everyone unites,(especially with FavreFan) against you..take a hint..your thought is terrible.

I've always been one to go against the groupthink majority, because most of the time they're sheepish and wrong. Just like the Catholics. That's not going to change because of you or anyone else.

You can be careful. You can hold out a player if you like too. But at some point they need to play against someone other than their teammates at full speed in a real game. An example is here where the Steelers held out Roethlisberger and Brown for the first two games. They played the last one and will the fourth some. It is simply necessary and completely random where an ACL will tear.

As for college no pre season is averted by most teams having a cakewalk non conference first game.

Currently not the case. Bears preseason tickets are much less expensive. http://www.chicagobears.com/tickets-and ... ckets.html

They honestly need prescreen games more than ever with the newish practice limitations. Plus you have tremendous turnover in rosters each year. Don't kid yourself, if this were game 1 of the regular season, he would have been hurt on drive 2 of the first regular season game. Guys are going to get hurt- in the offseason, in practice, during preseason games, and during regular games.

You still have the all time worst Bears thread in board history. You thought divisions winners were decided only by division record. Something done in NO professional sport.
