I dunno bout that, but you've beaten Farvefan n flapjax into submission. He's put together a nice second half.

Good five-game winning streak, shame it doesn't count as per good dolphin.

But then how do you keep someone like Bobby Abreu out? This guys were really good players but they're just not on that level where you remember them in a way that you should remember a Hall of Famer.

Well, Im not sure about Evans. Bill James has made a case for him.

With Andruw Jones his defense puts him over the top. I always did feel like I was watching a Hall of Famer with Jones. Both Jones' actually

I always liked Evans, and I can see on paper why someone would look at the numbers and think he was better than Jim Rice. But if you followed their teams at the time you know there wasn't a major league pitcher who was worrying about Dewey Evans more than Jim Rice as he was working through that lineup.

Chipper is a no brainer. I never thought Andruw Jones was a Hall of Famer. He was a great defensive centerfielder but I don't think that's enough to boost him above corner guys who were just much better offensively like Dave Parker or Harold Baines. People already complain about Rice and Dawson and A. Jones is less than they are.

Also, pitchers were so scared shitless of Rice in the postseason that he hit 2 dingers and has a slash of .255/.325/.336 or so over 18 games.

A real fucking intimidator.

Yeah, Rice sucked and Kyle Schwarber is one of the greatest of all time because of 70 and 44 at-bats in the postseason. Are you gonna post Ted Williams' World Series slash line next?

Does Evans have to be better than Rice to be in the HoF? Can't he be just as good or in the same class? Their base counting numbers are the same 2400 hits and 380 bombs (4 more seasons for Evans though) and they have almost identical OPS+ numbers 128 Rice vs 127 Evans. Not for nothing but Evans wasn't a statue in the OF.

This Rice as a feared hitter is so overdone it's insane. A buddy and I were watching the 1986 ALCS game 5 the other night (yeah, don't ask, alcohol was involved). During the 9th inning with nobody out and a man on first with a 3 run lead a running out of fumes Mike Witt was so afraid of the insanely scary Jim Rice that he blew him away with three straight heaters for the strikeout. I'm fine with Rice being in the HoF, but every pitcher worried about Rice bullshit it just that.

Rice is a questionable Hall of Famer. Evans wasn't as good.

And this idea of "fear" is something you are creating. I never mentioned "fear". The fact is, those batting orders were built around Jim Rice. He didn't have 1157 total bases in three consecutive years because he was lucky.

I'm going to the Sox tonight. I hope at least a few vendors are pulling the double. It's been a beer desert in the outfield the last few Sox games I've gone to when there were concerts at Wrigley.

Can Lester hold this lead? Probably let him pitch only 5 today.
