I'm ten minutes in and while I am happy to hear DaMaNa and his sports thoughts, it just sounds like a really, really long sports minute that
he is reading off his weekly script. I'll weigh in after I am finished, just an initial feeling.

Edit -- Ok so I finished up.... The middle section of the podcast runs about 20 minutes and he talks about what he has been up to and some
of the people he enjoyed working with as well as some he didn't. Some people may find this more interesting than I did. I think most weeks
he will have someone in as a guest, which would be good in my opinion. Something and someone to break up the constant stream of talk.
At the end he wrapped up with some pop culture stuff which was fine I guess.

Overall I will keep listening as I enjoy Dan's football thoughts and hopefully he can get some good guests in to break things up and make it
a little bit more natural sports talk.

He never took a breath. It was great to hear his voice. I enjoyed the recent history of his work situation.

I thought it was good for a first shot. Had to set it up so to speak. Yeah he didn't really take a breath.

I have to admit that quote made me laugh and think about Marty janetty at the same time. I wonder why.

My exact thought as well. Just didn't feel as natural is it probably will a few more episodes in. I doubt he has to keep it under a
certain time limit but maybe he does have to keep it under 40 minutes or something.

He'd be best to pick a specific topic for the show and stick to that. He sprayed all over the place in a haphazard manner.

I clicked on the link. Nice description of today's podcast:

"Mac blows the NFL, blows up Cutler, the PD at ‘The Drive’ and a lot more! Episode 1 is an embarrassment of riches!."

Without having listened, I'd say it's an embarrassment of proofreading.

Seriously. That's what it said. I know Mac has had some free time. I just didn't realize how much. Hope he had some good kneepads.

Listening. Some of you may agree with this or not: his vocal tempo and inflection reminds me of Dan Carlin on Hardcore History.

Hmm that didn't come to mind. Carlin is good stuff, but he digresses way too much. I gave up because I felt like Billy Madison, "t t t toooday junior."

Listening now. Solo radio just simply doesn't work. He needs a partner to bounce stuff off of. I might tune in another time or two but probably not much more after that. I'm a huge Mac guy but not enough to listen to solo shows.

Mac was reading from a script. He wrote the entire show.

Guess he felt the need to do that with no partner. Get all of his thoughts out in the compressed 40 minutes. But he's better with a partner and/or interaction with listeners.

my impressions from earlier :

It was good.

It felt scripted at first.

But it needs a break. A commercial or something to take a break 2 or 3 times.

The part where he goes after the past stations was hard to listen to. You could feel the negativity and bitterness. I had to turn it off after that.

I wouldn't mind North doing a show like this if he just stuck to sports.

------------------

I listened to the last part of the show.

With more time to look back at the show, seemed like maybe he was rushing it to get all this stuff out. Hope the next show is not as rambling and bitter. He needs a sidekick from time to time just to check him for the show's own good.

It's a better listen than the shit they have on wscr. Maybe one of these days Terry can come do a guest appearance and reunite the Heavy Fuel Crew. I miss the 'We're Happy for You'.

How long before McNeil calls himself to report that he's "sick" and taking an extended break.

Just finishing up listening to episode 1. It felt at times like I was reading a long missive from SHARK.

Danny Mac Andy Rooney.

Still interesting, but he was never solo. It felt like he would write pieces and read them, then take a break. So a 40 minute show could take two days. I don't think that's actually how it played out, but it's how it sounded.

Mac needs to riff off of somebody for at least a few minutes.

Today's episode has Mike North and Bruce Wolf talking baseball, NCAA, and the Loop's demise.

Thanks for posting this. Bruce Wolf part was tremendous! Brought back some great memories. Talked about the last loop show.

I guess this will need to be moved to the RIP section?
