Arrested by the FBI for running some sort of Ponzi scheme . JLN, send in your resume !

“Boomer and Carton” co-host Craig Carton was arrested by feds Wednesday morning on charges he ripped off millions of dollars from investors by peddling bogus concert tickets in order to cover his own gambling debts, according to court papers.

Carton, 48, and business partner Joseph Meli are accused of running a Ponzi scheme in which they used funds from new investors to repay earlier investors and other debts, according to the complaint filed by the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

Together, Carton and Meli, 43, ripped off at least $3.6 million from two investors, while on his own, Carton misappropriated another $2 million from one of the same two investors.

The two solicited investments in ticket reselling enterprises they claimed bought tickets to Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Robert Waters, Metallica, Barbra Streisand and Adele shows and resold them at huge profits.

Seems to be a lot better ways to loose money than investing in these get rich quick schemes. If the deal is too good to be true it probably is

I am stunned I mean stunned that the preferred radio station of people who think they're Sopranos characters would have its morning host get popped by the feds for selling counterfeit Barbra Streisand tickets.

Nobody said anything about counterfeit tickets. There were no tickets.

How did he pull this off to get the ponzi scheme up to 1 million dollars? I don't get it.

Wouldn't the first time a bogus ticket didn't scan at the gate, the scheme would be over? How did he get that much money on bogus tickets?

I assume there were no tickets, hence the ponzi scheme.

Fine. But how the hell does it get up to 2 million dollars without it being discovered? That makes no sense to me. That's thousands of fake tickets or no tickets at all. Eventually these events have to take place and you would think it would be over rather quickly. Well before he could get it up to 2 million.

Madoff made sense. He was just giving people false statements. And paying out those who made small withdraws with the money others were putting in once they heard how great he was.

That's what a ponzi scheme is numbnuts, you get in early and you can make dough, 95% of the investors are going to get fucked. I've never liked that loud mouthed clown.. I hope Boomer goes solo.

Disappointed Francesa didn't light him up since he's on the way out anyway. It also sucks that that self-righteous asshole Boomer didn't go down with him.

I didn't read the article but the headline mentioned huge casino debts. I understand the how and why it happens but casinos really should be outlawed from giving credit.

He owed a bunch to a single individual as well. Definitely mob-related.

I know what a ponzi scheme is, dumb ass. But this was a bad one which had no lasting power like others. Some are better than others. Some are done to eventually make up the money. In theory. To buy time. This one wasn't like that. Unless he thought he would eventually make it up at another casino.

Christ, he's going to jail when he could have just filed for bankruptcy.

Sounded like he owed the mob.

Can't file bankruptcy from them.

Good point.

I guess if you're about to be whacked, you come up with some crazy shit.

Ok, I stand corrected, he did what he had to do. It was a nice try.

He cold have asked Boomer for a loan. Boomer has to be worth at least 40 million. But he probably knew Boomer would have said "no". :(

+1

Guy rips off millions from people with a regular radio gig and Murph can only find 3 hours in a week to work after the Cubs win the WS after 108 years.
