War is garbage Imo, but I believe I read Lastella had the same war value as Jhey and better than Zobrist.

Offensive WAR that is true.

To have a RF that can't hit 20+ homeruns is ridiculous. Theo has given some ridiculous contracts: Heyward, Zobrist, and EJax.

I'd add Lester to that list. You would hope to get more than 10-7 with a 4.30 for $25 mil per. At least there's hope he can put it together in a big playoff game, whereas Heyward's contribution might be another good speech.

He's also given us a team that won a FUCKING WORLD SERIES.

It isn't your money. If it stops them from signing someone then you can complain. Until then, why do you care how much the Ricketts pay?

They have already used money as a excuse. They talk about budget all the time. They wouldn't be against the budget, if not for these bad signings. When they don't sign anyone this offseason, I'll tell you, I told you so, again.

Yeah, the money matters because it causes management to play a guy that is not worthy of playing.

Of course they talk about the budget. It hasn't stopped them from signing anyone they wanted.

You want to shit on Theo, shit on him for the terrible Quintana trade. I'll happily join in the parade on that one.

No. They benched Heyward last year when he was struggling even worse than this.

What about Babe? He doesn't make any money and they kept playing him long after he shit the bed.

I'm not ready to shit on the trade. Quintana really hasn't been that bad. Now, if he isn't put in the playoff rotation, that's a problem.

The Babe doesn't play every game. How many games has Heyward missed in his nearly two years here, five?

He's played 110 games this season.

I meant due to being benched, not injury. No biggie. He isn't worth the money. The Babe has upside, so they should keep playing him.

You don't want a lot of Cubs baseball. Heyward doesn't start one or two games a week recently. He doesn't even have enough PA per game played to be a statistics qualifier this season.

Heyward has played in 110 games of the Cubs' 143 so far this season.

So the World Series MVP and NLCS MVP of the first Cub team to win a WS in 108 years were bad signings, huh?

He wasn't worth the contract when they signed him, neither is Lester but by coincidence or design, they were both part of the 108 year drought breaking team. They can be both.

No change. I have never said anything to the contrary about any team in any sport including the "not as good as the 98 Yankees" 2005 White Sox.

Lester has been a very good signing. Zobrist was fine for one year of a four year contract. Heyward has performed well under expectations. It will make Bryce Harper's contributions look even better in 2019.

I know. Winning the World Series erases anything negative. It's a good feeling.

Oh, yea totally agree. I was trying to think how bad it would feel to have the Cubs swept and blowing 60% of a division lead in 3 days pre-2016. It's a totally different fan life now.

Now they are just a "normal" baseball team.

Well, I did quit being a Sox fan twice in my life, so probably.

2005 though.

I think the jury is still out. Yes, you can say we won the WS so that trumps everything else, but you could also say that if the Cubs had signed Scherzer instead, they may have also won last year and would be in much better shape this year and the next.

Lester is basically the same as Lackey this year.

Zobrist being good for 1 year out of the 4 is not good. Worse case, he needed to be good for at least 2 of the years, if not 3.
