I predict this hypothetical free child care would have been free to a majority of users. What else would it be? The government setting up child care centers to run with the money they charge? This is the major problem with Sanders. You can't even give anything but the most generic of plans on how it would work. You don't even seem to be able to speculate on who would pay.

I mean, of course "affordable child care" sounds great. "High paying jobs and low crime" sounds great when Trump says it too.

Bernie's strategy was to appeal to the needs of the socialist movement in order to progress his communist agenda. He and many others prey on the issues that divide us as a nation and use these issues as platforms to gain support for their ultimate goal of a communist country.

Like Bernie, the left has no real plans or message to their supporters, except for impeach Trump, Trump is bad, Russia, Russia... exc.
They love that Trump is in office, because it feeds more hate and makes their cause stronger that change is needed and they are the ones to do it. Forget the constitution, we know what is best for you. And that is a dangerous path to go down.

Bernie like Trump has been rather effusive in his praise of dictatorial regimes.

What is a good idea?

Closing the income gap via progressive taxes at the top.

Right. There were some "extreme" positions of Bernie's that could have been negotiated down to a reasonable part of the social safety net.

I think we're coming to another point (some would say we're there already) where capitalism has failed so many people in so many ways that it needs to be put in check, like a bratty child losing his privileges. I think Bernie Sanders could have done a lot to save capitalism by tightening and re-enforcing its rules, lest the whole thing fall apart down the line as it certainly would have without Franklin Roosevelt, who was a friend to the free market while also being our most socialist president. Capitalism has cancer and social democracy would be its chemotherapy, poisoning it to save it.

Um, I think you're conflating the left and liberals here. Liberals are the Hashtag Resistance going on and on about Russia and impeachment. The left wants to win elections.

I think you are confusing me with a Trump supporter? You are just proving my point on Bernie. However, Bernie has done a lot more then just praise his support.

Quote:
Judging by the stance of the leadership of the Democratic Party and much of the media, Hillary Clinton’s devastating loss in the presidential election of November 2016 was all the fault of pernicious Russian leaks, unwarranted FBI investigations and a skewed electoral college. Rarely blamed was the party’s decision to run a deeply unpopular candidate on an uninspiring platform.

At a time of widespread dissatisfaction with business-as-usual politics, the Democrats chose to field a quintessential insider. Her campaign dwelt little on policies, focusing overwhelmingly on the personality of her opponent.

That this strategy was a failure is an understatement. Losing an election to someone with as little competence or support from his own party as Donald Trump marked an extraordinary fiasco.

The refusal of the Democratic leadership to identify the real reasons for their defeat is not just a problem of history. If Democrats persevere with a politics that prioritizes well-off professionals rather than ordinary Americans, they will leave the field open to right wing populism for many years to come.

Drawing on the WikiLeaks releases of Clinton’s talks at Goldman Sachs and the e mails of her campaign chief John Podesta, as well as key passages from her public speeches, How I Lost By Hillary Clinton also includes extensive commentary by award-winning journalist Joe Lauria, and a foreword by Julian Assange, editor-in-chief of WikiLeaks.

It provides, in the words of the Democratic candidate and her close associates, a riveting, unsparing picture of the disastrous campaign that delivered America to President Trump, and a stark warning of a mistake that must not be repeated.

Ok, then how does the left plan on winning the elections?

By resisting Trump and voting for his impeachment (if it comes to that).

I wouldn't say capitalism has failed people, but more specifically crony capitalism.

As for RPB's even higher progressive taxes, I've been of the mind that it would be fairer to let the innovators and hard workers keep their money, but then have a much higher estate tax. Why should someone's kids be given unearned wealth? But the main problem with that is that it creates an incentive to kill rich people to get to their assets.

What does she think is going to happen as a result of this book and passages like that? She is clueless.

The Cedar Rapids one is just fucking weird. She just starts advertising Tito's Handmade Vodka in the middle of a story like we're listening to the Score.

"And then that's when we found out that the Anthony Weiner case had taken a turn for the worst. Certainly we would all feel the effects of his terrible judgment. We all felt uncertain and unsafe, as if our futures were all suddenly thrown into doubt. Identity theft can also throw your future into doubt, which is why I want to tell you about my good friends at LifeLock."

That SNL skit was one of the weirdest things I've ever seen on tv. I'm not even sure exactly what it was saying.
