My peeps are telling me the Bears are looking at Chris Brown. Alright, my peeps is the Tribune.

I kind of like Chris Brown but I'm not sure what this accomplishes other than to replace Peterson with a better version of that. I was kind of hoping they'd keep their options open for Mendenhall but I'm biased.

NFL Network has him going to Houston to fight Ahman Green for the starting position.

I wish that Joe Moore and Jim Harrison were available. They would be about as exciting, even in their 60's.

I don't see Chris Brown being much of an upgrade compared to Adrian Peterson. I guess it would be good for a competition in camp factor, but I am not excited.

I wanted a picture of Swisher - found one, then changed it when I found the cutting samson's hair. This one will stay for a while until like you said a Sox hat one is found.

Bears should sign Kevin Jones, whom the Lions just relased. He would be pretty cheap, and that way they could focus on WRs and Oline in the draft. Jones would be a nice compliment to Benson, and he can catch the ball out of the backfield quite well.

i don't know NAS. He hasn't cracked 700 yards the past three seasons.

couple questions-

1) Does Jones need a strong O-line to stay healthy and productive?

2) If he's having trouble staying on the field when his primary role is pass blocking, what happens when he gets 20 touches a game?

3) Finally, is this the best use of cap space? Would he improve the roster significantly?

I agree with Nas. I like Jones. He would have been a good replacement for Thomas Jones a year late.

In fact I'd trade Brian Westbrook AND Jay Cutler for Kevin Jones if I could get Jason Campbell too.

You could get Kevin Jones on the cheap...the dirt cheap with some incentives on a 1 yr deal. If he gets hurt, its not throwing away a lot of money. Benson hasn't proved to be injury free, and Peterson is not a #1. If they signed Jones it really couldn't hurt them much.

another one bites the dust:

GIANTS KEEP RB WARD
Posted by Michael David Smith on March 14, 2008, 4:13 p.m.
John Clayton of ESPN is reporting that the New York Giants have reached an agreement to re-sign free agent running back Derrick Ward.

According to Clayton, the deal is one-year, $1.1 million deal contract with incentives that could allow him to make another $1 million.

Ward got off to a strong start to the 2007 season, starting four of the Giants’ first five games in place of the injured Brandon Jacobs and playing more or less the same role in the offense that Tiki Barber had in 2006. But then Ward himself got hurt and missed four games. He returned for one more game, carrying 24 times for 154 yards and leading the Giants to a win over the Chicago Bears, but got hurt again and missed the rest of the season and the playoffs.

Ward re-joins a crowded backfield in New York. He will likely compete for playing time with Ahmad Bradshaw as the backup to Jacobs.
