That is one that I know of. I just seem to recall Disney (ABC/ESPN) being pretty tight about that stuff.

This was ESPN's statement.

Image

Is that really anything to be upset about? She hasn't been disciplined or anything.

I saw this from Deadspin.

ESPN issues craven apology for Jemele Hill's accurate descriptions of Donald Trump: https://t.co/elCgM8ahVt https://t.co/HcjTpfK6mc

Did ESPN apologize? I don't see one there.

Not sure about similar but they disciplined him multiple times for being a bigot.

This was said before I realized they didn't discipline nor apologize for her.

Seems like much ado about nothing.

I wonder though if technically he was not disciplined and ultimately canned for being a bigot. Yes, that was the crux of his spouting but my guess is they also did not want spouting off at all.

They fired a tennis commentator for saying Venus Williams was playing guerilla tennis ( attacking the net) because idiots on social media thought he called her a gorilla and complained so the bar isn't very high over there to be disciplined over nothing. Not that they even thought of firing her regardless.

I think he wanted to be a martyr. IIRC they asked him not to do something on air and he did it anyway and complained when he was finally fired.

When you work for places like that it is probably best to keep some comments to yourself. Most political statements aren't worth losing your job over.

It appears ESPN only dislikes it when certain people comment on social media .

Curt Schilling, a former All-Star pitcher and one of the highest-profile baseball analysts on ESPN, was fired from the network Wednesday, a day after he drew intense criticism for promoting offensive commentary on social media.

Schilling, who had worked for the network since 2010 and most recently offered analysis on “Monday Night Baseball,” was dismissed after sharing a Facebook post this week that appeared to respond to the North Carolina law that bars transgender people from using bathrooms and locker rooms that do not correspond with their birth genders.

The post showed an overweight man wearing a wig and women’s clothing with parts of the T-shirt cut out to expose his breasts. It says: “LET HIM IN! to the restroom with your daughter or else you’re a narrow-minded, judgmental, unloving racist bigot who needs to die.”

To that, Schilling added: “A man is a man no matter what they call themselves. I don’t care what they are, who they sleep with, men’s room was designed for the penis, women’s not so much. Now you need laws telling us differently? Pathetic.”

“ESPN is an inclusive company,” ESPN said in a statement. “Curt Schilling has been advised that his conduct was unacceptable and his employment with ESPN has been terminated.”

Schilling, through a spokeswoman, declined to comment.

It was the latest in a number of commentaries by Schilling on social media that have drawn controversy. He was suspended for a month after he posted a comment on Twitter in August that compared radical Muslims to Nazis.

Tad, seriously, why are the majority of your posts questioning or hating on women with opinions? I don't get it man. Seems like you could be a better poster rather than falling in line with the misogynist brigade.

OK.

She wasn't wrong but probably not a good thing to say when your job is pushing you hard as one of the public faces of the company.

No, he used to be on the radio all the time in Boston. The guy has definitely lost his marbles.

There are a different set of rules for athletes. I'm okay with athletes making political statements. I wish there were more super stars like LeBron. Tom Brady had a MAGA hat and I didn't love him less. Cutler said he supported Trump and I didn't hate him more. Shaheen posted some questionable things and I will still be his biggest fan if he's catching touchdowns. Hill talks sports for a Disney network. There are different rules for her.

They took a broadcaster off a game for having the same name as civil war general.

I watch ESPN for non sporting events about as much as I watch Mark Giangreco for sports news. She is sports Linda Sarsor for me

Speak of that Disney suspended him for something pretty dumb this year that I can't remember.

Started talking about how someone went on Fox News and made it a bigger story than it was. Ect Ect

I turned it off after he started to use an excuse why a white woman was suspended and not this person.

Is Trump pretty racist to a degree, yeah... but I don't think you for sure can say he's a white supremacist. It's almost as bad as comparing Obama to a Muslim terrorist. I get that Trump sucks, but at least show some restraint, especially if you are in a public facing position. Again, liberals/SJW's always want to have it both ways.

It's time the African American community has a "reality check" of why we have Donald Trump to begin with. First off, you threw all the eggs in the Hillary Clinton basket who distains blacks almost as much as Trump. BLM, for whatever reason, started attacking Bernie Sanders. Bernie fucking Sanders who was arrested for standing up for the black community, in the 1960's. The 1960's people! I mean fuck, in the 60's even the most liberal of white's were pretty fucking racist. Then, when it was too late, and HRC was the only option to stop Trump, your turnout was a shell of what it was for Obama. So here we are....

The Democrats are going to do better than "Trump sucks" as a platform for the next election you know..cause that's all they got.

Incidentally, Jemele Hill earns an annual salary of $1,000,000 at a time when ESPN has drastically reduced its budget.

Not sure about that but the voter turnout numbers in the community were an issue.

Trump is one of the good white supremacists though.

That's exactly why a tweet like this: "The height of white privilege is being able to ignore his white supremacy, because it's of no threat to you. Well, it's a threat to me." is so tone deaf. If you asked her exactly how Trump is a threat to her she couldn't answer other than with some unsupported and unprovable abstraction.

pretty much every celebrity's complaint about money or lifestyle is tone deaf.

there is way too much extremism that's being confused for "thinking". trump isn't a nazi. obama wasn't a terrorist. like caller bob said. except to say only "liberal/SJW" types make this kind of hyperbole is just plain wrong.
