Dennis' servants' idiot kids use the silver spoons.

In all seriousness, I hope it's a joke and nobody is actually being "told" how to vote.

I disagree with that. Her legacy following the last election was that of a 2-time loser who ran such a bad campaign that she couldn't beat a candidate with no credentials and an obnoxious personality. In many democratic eyes she is directly responsible for Trump. The book certainly doesn't help and I do agree she should have just faded out of the spotlight and raked in speaking fees.

I think if she would have done things differently, been more low-key, not joined #THE RESISTANCE, not written the book, etc. those feelings would have faded away and she would have come to be seen as the anti-Trump.

That's pretty horrible. One of the reasons our political system is shit is because voters refuse to take the time and research candidates and so many just vote how they are told..family/church/cult..etc...

There have been at least 56 losing presidential candidates in U.S. history. Have any of them ever acted like this?

You guys essentially spend all day telling one another why voting or supporting XYZ person is idiotic. Come on, you don't spend time convincing family and friends how to vote? My wife doesn't care one way or the other, so it takes no convincing.

I certainly opine my thoughts, but I never actively tell anyone in my family who to vote for.

Sounds like you have a weak pimp hand. The president looked to make sure his wife voted for him on election day.

I don't know what's more sad, what Dennis does, the fact he thinks it's normal or the possibility that it is still normal.

Agreed, I think Al Gore probably comes the closest in deserving to act like this. Even though he is his own kind of pudwhack.

I am in a Union. Again, Unions are complete crap, but that isn't the point. I was a Senator in my Union (as I felt that if I had to be forced into a Union, at the very least I should have some say in the Union) and had to attend bi-monthly local meetings. This was in August and October of 2014. The Illinois Governor election was in full swing. At the meeting in August, the local Union had a 2 hr. meeting in which 1 hr. 45 min. consisted of election discussion. But this discussion wasn't a dialogue, no it was basically a keynote in which the Union told us who to vote for and the justification to do so.
This meeting consisted of Union heads stating that "while we know Quinn is a tough sell, we can't let Bruce Rauner win because he will destroy our livelihood."
This was a meeting in which the Union stated "We know Rauner will use his money to win the election, but we don't want the media to know that will win do the same."
This was the meeting where the Union stated that they will pay us to campaign for Quinn via calls or going door to door; up to $600 so they wouldn't have to issue tax forms.
This was the meeting where the Union stated they had earmarked $1.5 million to Karen Lewis' possible Chicago Mayoral run.
This is the meeting where someone stood up and said they believe we should do a motion proclaiming that we'd all vote for Quinn and push others to do so. AND THEY TOOK A YAY/NAY VOTE (I was the only Nay)! All eyes immediately went on me.

So yes, there are still institutions telling people who to vote for. In part, they do it by instilling fear into people.

Well, there was John Adams who stacked the court before Jefferson took over. Jackson and his supporters spoke out about Clay and the corrupt bargain when he won the popular vote but lost the election in the House to Quincy Adams.

Back when I was young and working on local elections, it was interesting to see how the sausage was made. The precinct committeeman would print up the cards of who to vote for in all the primary elections and deliver it to all the old people in the area and then come Election Day, the vans would come out and pick em up and drop them off. Just mindless automatons.

The worst trick was where they would get some schlub to run that had the same name as the opponent so you would vote for the wrong guy. They eventually made a rule here in Lake County to stop that practice. It didn't quite work hahaha. Our county recorder was named Mike Brown and he served his terms and couldn't run again so some new guys jumped in the primary and one of the guys got his buddy named Mike Brown to run just to hopefully siphon off some votes. It backfired big time because the new Mike Brown actually won. They thought they were reelecting the current guy.
