It's time the African American community has a "reality check" of why we have Donald Trump to begin with. First off, you threw all the eggs in the Hillary Clinton basket who distains blacks almost as much as Trump. BLM, for whatever reason, started attacking Bernie Sanders. Bernie fucking Sanders who was arrested for standing up for the black community, in the 1960's. The 1960's people! I mean fuck, in the 60's even the most liberal of white's were pretty fucking racist. Then,
The Democrats are going to do better than "Trump sucks" as a platform for the next election you know..cause that's all they got.
Not sure about that but the voter turnout numbers in the community were an issue.
Not as bad as the % of majority women voters. Which is always ignored to continue to blame the Blacks.

I think because of the turnout for Barry O. it was a little disappointing that it went right back down to unacceptable levels.
But
I say this as a person who frequently takes hell in my community for telling immigrants and those one generation removed have an obligation to be mindful of this issue when voting.
I spent months trying to convince the under 40 blacks I knew to vote. It made sense they would be upset about Bernie but I assumed they would eventually get active because Trump was the alternative. Not only did the opposition intensify but they started subconsciously listing the president's talking points as reasons why they wouldn't vote for her. When it came out in October (IIRC) that Debbie Wasserman Schultz and the DNC favored Hillary that was the final nail in the coffin.
The week before the election I made phone calls and started canvassing. At that point I started to believe that Hillary could lose. Even older black women weren't for her. MANY were just showing up to vote against Trump and the older black men just wanted Bill back. I'm pretty sure I posted about that experience here. You don't win elections when people aren't voting for you.
On Thanksgiving I discovered that I was just about the only person in my family that didn't vote for Trump. I was pissed. I wanted to blow the entire house up because of all of the stupidity and bigotry I heard that night. I can't recall the last time before then that I considered hitting someone out of frustration. My kids presence likely prevented that.
The president or the Russians did a helluva sales job on the community and apparently women too. Fake news works. I still can't believe that a community torn between Obama and Hillary in 2008 cast a higher percentage of votes for Trump than Republicans have gotten in decades.

Fake News! Quad City Pat told the same Thanksgiving story!
