Who cares? Buddy Rich used to say it's not bragging if you can back it up.
Never expected to see a Buddy Rich reference around here.

LOL at Rizzo and Molina just standing there looking at each other

Pham needs to play Jay exactly where he hit that. That's a classic Jay single to left.

Terrible call. But it does show just how terrible Contreras is at framing

That pitch needed no framing. Perfect strike.

No, he's right. It was a strike but where Contreras caught it was low.

He stabs at the ball, which is basically inviting the ump not to give him the call.

  This is great. Could it be the meltdown that costs the Cub the season? Contreras likely to be suspended because his mask hit the ump.

Well maybe, but Martinez starting for the dugout shudda been a tip off to the ump!

Yea, I dont think so.

We were just talking about that in the office. The times that's happened before it seemed like they were at least throwing TOWARDS the umpire. That was just a big bounce.

And no, this wont have any lasting effect. This Cub team doesnt go in for that kind of non sense. It's the one thing Maddon is consistently good at.

I'd not think so, but that won't stop the meatball narrative should the Cub season go awry. Some still blame the announcers for 2004

Sometimes leaders gotta lead. He is sticking up for his teammate and stating the Cubs aren't going to stand for it. I don't mind this as long as it isn't a common occurrence. Besides, Cubs have twelve catchers on the roster.

I'm laughing at Contreras. He framed that pitch as well as his DM's to Mia Khalifa. He made a clear strike look like a ball.

A girl on my softball team did that in a playoff game. Stood up to catch it in hopes of picking off a runner and lost a perfect strike 3 call. They scored 4 after that.

We won 22-4 but at the time, they closed it to 6-4. Still havent forgiven her.

Im not gonna hold it too much against him but it wasnt leadership. He just lost it.

The leader out there was Baez stopping (hopefully) Contreras from a suspension

If an umpire can't tell a strike that was 6.6 inches from the nearest border of the zone due to the catcher moving it after it crossed the plate, the umpire should be stocking shelves at ALDI. Or shelves at a light bulb retailer.

Wilson came into a high leverage situation and stopped the bleeding. Hopefully this was a turning point for him.
