I also favor a computerized strike zone. Enough of these umps missing 20% of the pitches.

Yeah that inning just came on . It was a strike but I still don't think it was that egregious a miss. Ball had a lot of movement . Glad it ended up being meaningless .

I'll watch on mlb app.

btw mlb app is free. you get a free game a day.

even if you are not a subscriber, they have post game recap and a condensed version of the game for free. the condensed version is great because they turn off the annoucers.

If you haven't seen the HBO "Real Sports" that discusses this, it's worth trying to find on demand or YouTube. Basically, a frustrated ex-MLB player umps a minor league game behind home plate. However, he wears an ear piece and also has a red/green light he can see in center field.

He is able to instantly call an accurate ball or strike, no influence from framing or curvature. The strike zone is adjusted individually for each batter.

You can't tell it's the computer making the calls, because he still yells out the call. He also still has to do the other myriad of things the home plate ump deals with. It's absolutely seamless to the fans or viewers.

The show also shows statistically how horrible the umps are-- when it comes to borderline pitches, they're terrible.

I'm really not sure why this advancement is even controversial at this point.

A young newly rich man saying "please look at me". Just human nature. Tats, gaudy jewelry, crazy hair, etc. Just affectations of his ilk.

The bigger question is Why is Lackey such an incredible asshole?

Murph made a good commentary on his show this morning that all these umps are making themselves look bad this year with all these shit calls. But it's been going on for decades. He was saying they are making it easier for the MLB to try out automatic strike zone machines.

The camera work has been really good this year at showing pitcher grips. I love seeing that curveball grip.

The Baez giveth away part . 3 swing for the fences passes when a base hit would've been fine there

I am glad. I trust him more in the 7th and 8th than some of the pen guys right now. Too often Maddon has yanked him too early IMO.

Obviously that looks bad now that Carp hits the HR, but I think that was a wind aided shot and I will still take my chances with Hendricks.

Yeah that was just a pop fly that carried and Hendricks was cruising no doubt .
