The fact that a QB could check down to a back in 3rd an long and see his rating goes up, shows you how worthless the QB rating stat is. I would design a stat that evaluated all potential "completions" down field(the bigger the play the more points awarded) ...points awarded if the completion is made, points deducted if the QB doesn't take advantage of that "opening".

Who knows, PFF might do something like this..all I know is that the QB rating stat should be discarded off all sites like Espn.com, nfl.com etc....It might have meant something 20 years ago when defensive backs were actually allowed to play "defense".

Fellas, it's a Dick Stockton assignment.

That's one of the horrific consequences of the bears sucking is the crew assigned is always 6th rate.

You can't defend QBs based on stats alone. It's very important to understand how they got to those stats. Mike Glennon is Jason Campbell. He's a bad quarterback. And even his numbers don't look good and will continue to not look good in comparison to the rest of the league.

He's thrown more than twice as many touchdowns than interceptions. That's great in comparison to the rest of the league. He isn't a difference maker but you can win with a guy that protects the ball

Almost all of his stats outside of TD/INT ratio are subpar. We'll see this year just how limited he is. He's a bad quarterback. There are worse but he isn't good.

THE MOST important stat for a QB is TD to turnover ratio... Don't discount it. Turnover lose game..TD win em.

I think YPA is the most important stat, but I'm not discounting TD/INT ratio. I just think it's absurd to suggest Glennon is good solely based on that. Jason Campbell had a good TD/INT ratio and he was fucking terrible

I agree with you here 312, but there are also exceptions to almost every rule. And I think Glennon is the exception more than the rule on this.

Bears win 24-20. Defense takes the ball away and the offense plays well.

I prefer TD/INT ratio personally. But there are instances where any stat can be misleading so a conglomerate of them trending in a specific direction is usually the best barometer if available. I get some of the frustration with QB rating, but it's better at telling a story when stretched over a longer timeline than on a shorter one.

Looking good against the run but a step slow against the pass.

That's not great coaching ... if he didn't give the ball to Tariq again Fox would be rightfully get a musket shot right to the face.

Really great work by fox going to commercial immediately and never showing a replay of that interception. Just speaking for myself, but I certainly didn't want to get a look at what happened there.
