Pace doesn't like any of the top 4 rookie QB at 3, he won't get them at 35, and he can't be sure he can trade to get a pick around 18 to get a QB with decent value.

So what's he going to say other than he likes Glennon?

uhhh how about "dude ernie accorsi [or whoever the new "special advisor" is] likes him plenty, and george told me that's good enough for him so that's good enough for me!" --- cuz with these bears you just never know. i wouldnt be surprised if they overpromoted pace to be a "young/est GM in the league" type GM JUST so they could routinely "son him" whenever they wanted, a la ernie accorsi or whoever showing up and being like "JOHN FOX IS AVAILABLE! KID, IF JOHN FOX IS AVAILABLE YOU HIRE JOHN FOX!" or even "George [McCaskey] met with Marc Trestman and said that he's the guy" so that way someone who is more likely to be "just happy to be here" as a GM would give less of a fuss than, say, hiring an actual GM with a spine who says "uhhh isnt the point of my job to pick out head coaches and players? why are my overlings+underlings telling me that brandon marshall, martellus bennett, and now jay cutler are no longer chicago bears?"

not only that, but i have 0.0(, mr blutarsky) faith in the bears to actually "hit" on a proper QB in the first 4 rounds, let alone the first 4 picks, so at least i think they'll have a better chance of stumbling into decency than drafting as the #1/only means of gettign a solid QB; cuz odds are if they had a legit "Franchise QB" like a dak prescott situation they probably wouldnt know what to do with him.... hell if recent/ish history is any indication they'd probably trade his BFF to let the offensive coordinator flex his muscles [which is hilarious considering that lovie basically took martz on when nobody else would, so he clearly had to let his "Franchise QB" know who decides personnel decisions by dumping olsen off for a pittance in favor of manumaneuseless] and then trade his old/decent+ friend off for nothing when he pisses the brass off by wanting to do inside the NFL, and then hell why dont you let a proper ~top5ish-production TE go and only replace him with zach fucking miller like "hey you know once abou diaby gets a run of fitness the sky's the limit!"

TLDR = i sure hope glennon is cromulent/+, however with the current state of the bears [where i believe the mscaskeys are micromanaging from the top] i just.... man. mike glennon? well hey at least ~2yrs/25mil [or whatever is guaranteed] gives you a chance to maybe go for THE QB OF THE FUTURE(TM) in a superior QB draft in 2018, or maybe even buys you til 2019 to find "the guy" -- who will end up falling somewhere between, say, henry burris and jay cutler [with a shoutout to chad hutchinson! who is ~2017-18 chad hutchinson? can't wait til we find out! =]

True. But I guess I'm hearing media people that think he'll take a QB at 35. And I'm just saying I read Pace's comments, to me at least, that he won't be doing that.

Like you said, if you're not taking one at 35, the ones that will be left won't be top 4 QBs in the 3rd round. So they'll take some project in round 6 or 7. And that guy will probably suck. Most QBs taken below round 3 never amount to anything. Not even average NFL QBs. Brady is the exception to that rule.

Not going to happen. I'm guessing 4th round.

Glennon is gonna wear #8

Here are the last 2 Bears QBs to wear that number. Bad omen.

Sexy Rexy indeed. I'm not gay, but if I was, I'd be all over that.

That's as gay as those Bryan Singer/Roland Emmerich pool orgies BigFan used to attend.

Glennon can't read a NFL defense. He just bird dogs a receiver after receiver. There is nothing more to see here.

Per the announcers.... you give him time and a pocket and he can spin the ball with anyone. I'm not sure how helpful that is. But at least he gets fidgets in the pocket.

That's false. He's middle of the road (at best) in terms of throwing the deep out. We saw that in the preseason.

Glennon, Barkley, Hoyer, Cutler, whoever. As long as there is a rookie as the backup/3rd stringer for the most of the season who gets the chance to possibly start the final 2-4 games it really doesn't matter who the starter in September is.

Yup. The only thing that matters is getting a legit rookie QB here. They can even keep cutler one more year.
We were right.

True dat.... I was more mocking the broadcaster user of "spinning".

Dick Stockton is the fucking worst...yesterday when discussing injuries, he referred to Cameron Meredith and Kevin White as "outstanding" receivers. I guess he meant relatively speaking.

A+ bump, the posts actually displaying any kind of optimism about this deal are going to be fun to revisit during the season. My favorite is the justification for spending $15 million on this goof because this year's quarterback class was so bad that it's not worth taking any of them.

To be fair Dick Stockton has the same cognitive faculties of 1989 Reagan.

If they go 0-4 to start the season (with Glennon being a contributor to that), you have a long week to prep (week 4 is the GB Thursday night loss) -- seems like Week 5 at home vs the Vikings might be a good fit to change starters.

I'd probably just wait until the Saints game, with games against the Browns, 49ers, and Bengals still to go.

No, do it like the military. I break you down with the tough opponents starting week five, then I tell you what to do and you magically rebuild yourself against that easy streak and now you have faith in the system and confidence.
