So the consensus is the Cubs aren't going to win it all this year?

They can beat LA. Washington will be the tougher match up.

The only thing they might have going, Cubs are loaded with LHP and that is the Achilles heal of the Dodgers.

I'm not as confident about this year as last. Bullpen has had some rough stretches. Lester and Lackey both got old fast.

EDIT: Plus Joe Maddon has been filling out his lineup cards like a drunken hobo all season.

I don't think this Cubs team can beat Cleveland or Houston. Nobody in the NL scares me. At the very least they defend their ring with a division championship and playoff berth.

Unlike that lightning in a bottle 05 Sox team, couldn't even get back to the post season and have sucked fat cock ever since. .

The 06 Sox won 90 games in a tougher league. This year's Cubs team might win a game or two more. Relax.

Did the 2006 White Sox make the playoffs? Yes or no?

The Sox were better against better competition.

And they didn't even make the playoffs. The Subdivision loves to celebrate non-accomplishments. Sad.

That doesn't even make sense. If you wanna be a "championships are all that matters" guy that's dumb but understandable. Acting like making the playoffs are all that matters makes you look like a goof on both sides.

Current odds:

Indians +300
Dodgers +320
Astros +650
Cubs, Red Sox, Nationals at +800

Next best is +1500. You can get 80-1 for the Brewers right now.

Seems like great odds for the Cubs

Easy no, the white sox have never made the playoffs in consecutive seasons.

To put +800 (8 to 1) in perspective, the Cubs were +300 to win the WS last year after they went down 3 games to 1.

+800 might be the best odds we see the rest of the year. Place your bets!

To be honest, I don't think the Cubs are going to be able to take down the mighty Dodgers this year. That's said, to win the World Series, then come back and make the playoffs is just amazing. Juxtapose that with the 2005 White Sox that won the world series, then took two years off from playoff baseball.

Seeing as how no National League team has repeated in 40 years I think it's a safe bet they won't .

It's when you ask questions like this that my urge to kill you rises. Of course the odds are that the Cubs won't win it all. They're one fucking team.

Just wanted to make sure before I changed the thread title.

Oh, and the 2005 White Sox did go wire to wire but this isn't a thread about the 2005 White Sox.

Nope, it's a thread about the 2017 Cubs created by a White Sox fan. Imagine that?

I'm sorry I predicted your team would win the World Series.

It makes perfect sense, if you make the playoffs you have a shot, like a chip and a chair analogy in poker. I would have been very disappointed if the defending champs didn't make the post season, as I'm sure you were in 06'.

By the way, The 84 win Cards beat the ALs best that year to win a ring.

2006 White Sox were awesome in the first half. They faded (as teams coming off a long playoff run often do) but they were a good team.

I was predicting them to win it until Cubbie Nation called me stupid.
