Talk about a gut-wrenching loss after a gut-wrenching loss the day before. Everything went wrong for the Brewers in the 9th, from the lazy pitcher not covering the bag, then losing the challenge, then having Baez on the ropes down to his last strike, then having bases loaded with one out and Santana swinging like he doesn't give a shit, and then Davis almost walking in the winning run.

Fantastic win. I love late September baseball.

Wow, the Cardinals haven't died yet.

So many key contributions, from Baez with a huge hit with 2 strikes on him, to Davis pitching out of a bases loaded 1 out jam, to KB hitting a huge 2 run homer, to Davis dominating the 9th to secure his own win......great game. But in all fairness Haap was out.

I wouldn't be at all shocked if Milwaukee gets the second wild card and beats Arizona...even after tonight.

It was one of those where there wasn't enough to overturn the call on the field. The Cubs were just lucky the call on the field was safe. I don't know if the league office had better replays than what we saw, but you'd think they could get some higher resolution slow-mo shots.

please let the rest of this series be a casual cruise to a 3-1 series win or sweep. the cardinals are a much deadlier foe.

great fucking win though. they're starting to redeem some of their previous blown games.

No, I think he actually made some good moves in this game.

I dont think he was out. The slow mo made it look like the pitcher's foot was ahead of his in getting over the bag but Happ was moving much quicker and they landed simultaneously.

Not to mention if Jeffress just hustles over there, he gets him easily.

Coomer was on M&H and he mentioned that if they had a normal 1B instead of the sub Walker, they probably don't even make a play on the ball and cover first for an easy out. That might be why Jeffress didn't initially hustle over there.

Yep. Brewers are a fun, likable team that are just running out of time and gas at the end here. Barring them rattling off 7 or 8 straight wins, this division race is ovah.

That's true. Not sure why Walker was in there at all. Did they pinch run for Thames? Bad call. Already had the lead at that point it's time to start putting your best run prevention squad out there.

They play the Cubs a lot of times each season. Of course you find them fun and likable. :)

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/ct-kato-kaelin-cubs-brewers-twitter-20170922-story.html

The Cubs' 5-3 rally against the Brewers Thursday night did more than improve their magic number to 6, it also got under the skin of one of the Brewers' most famous fans: Milwaukee native Kato Kaelin.

With Jon Jay on base in the 10th inning, Kris Bryant hit the go-ahead two-run home run off Brewers reliever Oliver Drake, sending the reality TV star and former O.J. Simpson houseguest into a near-unintelligble Twitter rant about Craig Counsell's game management and the blow to the Brewers' playoff hopes.

"I FN TOLD U! U SUCK 4EVER @Brewers 4EVER!! DRAKE WAS GREAT CALL COUNSELL! U can't manage a check book! Goodbye SEASON OVER! Really over!" Kaelin spewed.

Image

He stewed some more about the Brewers' blown ninth-inning lead (Javier Baez singled with two outs), agonized over their failure to capitalize on loading the bases with one out in the bottom of the frame, and harped on Drake's failure in the 10th: "So fn depressed by the @Brewers - U RUINED IT 4 the city! Drake, just quit -walk off the mound now. Bases loaded 1 out bottom of 9 & we lose"

And in an earlier tweet: "U FN SUCK @Brewers - U DESERVE TO LOSE - bases loaded! It's the story of this team. Counsell bunt wins game- send the runner! PATHETIC."

When Kaelin was done fuming for the night, he signed off with "Goodbye FN TWITTER @Brewers."

Kato was in the air on a plane without wifi when they blew it Wednesday. Perfect timing for the comedic setup

at this point, the Brewers are only a game behind the Rockies. A split with the Cubs and they may still make it.

Kato is a national treasure. Not a very valuable one but a treasure nonetheless.

Was a lot of fun going to game. Terrific park.
