And you know what? They deserve to be happy as I was in 2005. So this year I learned about sweating the small stuff and it ain't worth the energy. So I will say it... Go Cubs. Be happy people.

I agree with your sentiment. Fortunately I have a lot of friends in Cleveland so I am hoping they will enjoy the happiness I did in 2005. :alien:

Fair.

I like the Sox a helluva lot more than I like Sox fans. I had too many friends on FB that I ended up blocking because of all their anti-Cubs stuff in the playoffs last year. It's just bad form. When the Sox time comes, I'll be hoping they win.

On the other hand, Cubs fans have always been supportive of the Sox. They certainly were in 2005, 2008, and 2012. They might be suburbanite mama's boys who would sell you out for a dime and who love--just love!--road-tripping to Wigstock, but doggone it, those Cubbie fans are a class group of people.

We must know different Cub fans. That definitely wasn't my experience.

In all seriousness, I am glad to hear that. I remember catching a lot of flak in 2005 (especially the patented Cubs fan "Oh, I really didn't care much" argument).

I used to be a jerk about it. What really got to me was when the Sox blew the division in 2012 and Cubs fans I knew were cheering them on to lose. It kind of turned me around . . . and so when the Cubs were in it last year--well, like a guy who is dying for sex but trapped on an island with other men, I was conflicted. I watched every game and I didn't pull for them to lose and I sort of pulled for them to win. What's more, I went out of my way (emails and even two handwritten letters) to congratulate every huge Cub fan I knew after they won. Just kind of a dick move to get all negative like that.

Nevertheless, to the Cubs fans, in the ten percent chance that you're sexually active, someone else is probably banging your wife. Also, God hates you. Cubs fans are the Baby Boomer (or perhaps the Millennial) generation of MLB fanhood.

Good luck in the playoffs, though. Most definitely. Enjoy.

Thanks, we will enjoy watching the playoffs. Enjoy another winter in the cellar & being concerned about other men's sexual activity levels. There is certainly no frustration or strange complex at all in your post.

Posts above are why I will never, ever root for the Cubs. I'd rather jump off the Sears Tower than jump on the Cubs bandwagon.

You need to look up irony and then learn it in such a way that you can apply it to real-life uses of language.

I wonder if the recent generations of Cubs fans really cares much about the Wsox.

FF has been shitting on the Cubs forums all season and NOW he decides to be a turncoat to his own people?

Interesting.

To dive into the psychology of a Sox fan, look no further than Hillary. Every book she has written could be about the Sox fan base if you simply changed the sub-title.

What Happened: Reflections on 2016 and how our nightmare came true.

Hard Choices: Why we traded the best pitcher in baseball for a minor league 2nd baseman.

Living History: Why we can't stop talking about 12 years ago.

The Unique Voice: How Rick Hahn finally spoke up in a meeting in his 10th year as GM.

Stronger Together: Our plan to form a human wall outside of Wrigley Field.

It Takes a Village: Please start buying tickets.

For real I cheered like a madman for the Sox in 2005. It was hilarious to see George H. Bush and his fatty grandkid with the "sad face" behind home plate.
