Also Knebal is mentally fucked. He lost that game for them single handedly.

yeah that is huge. Their closer was brought in during the 8th, and I believe he has pitched a ton lately

ya that was surprising. he was doing really well. i thought they had this game wrapped up. i would have put him in in the 8th too since it was such a big game to win. you tie for the WC and 2.5 of the cubs who just lost heading into 4 in your ballpark vs cubs

CC used 6.2 innings of relief pitchers before the biggest 4 game series of the year. 4 out save attempt for knebel. Swarzach has pitched like 4 innings over the past 3 games....hader pitched again...Barnes... why on earth would he overexpose his lights out pen?

i think he had to. they would be tied for the wc if they won. chances were in their favor as the Pirates looked like they were done. but it's baseball.

what else can the guy do? They are trying desperately to get in the playoffs. You have to focus on winning the game in front of you. He could not be thinking about the next 4

Agreed. They have to win every game period but he obviously overplayed his hand tonight.

Pirates win.

feels better when the team behind the cubs lose on the same day as the cubs lose. magic number 4 now.
