Bernstein with his lines in the sand - "THIS IS TRUTH TIME. YOU ARE EITHER ON ONE SIDE OR THE OTHER!"... "MIKE TOMLIN INFANTICIZED A GROUP OF GROWN MEN!" or Goff with his melodramatic bullshit - "Those of you who have been quiet - now is the time to take a stand. Spiegel, you can't quit! You can only give up because YOU HAVE THAT OPTION!" (as though Spiegel as a Jew has never been persecuted)

How about they just stick to reality and rightfully point out that our president is dumber than sin and is a truly bad person? How about seeing other people's perspectives and the fact that Mike Tomlin has a family to feed so he probably hesitates to just go around making political statements that could cost him his job? I can't stand these two.

Yeah. That was over dramatic Goff at his best.

"DON"T GIVE UP, DANNY". Fuck you Goff. Danny doesn't care. He's gonna leave the show, smoke a joint, bet on the games tonight and look at porn. Danny only pretends to care for the show.

And Bernstein doesn't give a shit either. He's going back to his all white neighborhood and is thinking about dinner and the wine he's gonna drink tonight. It's all for the dramatic show. The slow talking. The panic in their voices.

I got news for you. Goff doesn't care that much about it either. He likes the stage and the drama as well. He likes to give the speeches. He leaves the studio thinking about the baby and fiance that he didn't want. Regretting that drunken night, where he didn't have a condom, that made both eventually happen. Wishing for the days where he was free to hit the clubs.

That's the truth.

The hyperbole gets me, too, and it allows people to sort of set the narrative, whereby you are immediately for or against whatever they say. Saw and article on Deadspin earlier today about people booing the anthem protesters (peaceful exercise of speech, no?) and casting them as those who are for denying people "basic human rights".

The denial of "basic human rights" isn't the issue, here, as far as I am aware. It is the purported denial of civil rights by police officers. Civil rights are not human rights, as we deny people all over the planet basic civil rights every single day. Hell, Bernstein proudly supported a regime that denied civil rights to brown people in a far away land almost every single day (and come to think of it, there are multiple things that fit that billing, but this reference was towards Obama and drone strikes, but could also apply to Israel and Palestine, etc).

In the end, it's a bunch of people calling for a "discussion" on things that don't really want a discussion, they want compliance and acquiescence in return for not calling you a racist.

Much like some Trump supporters misrepresenting and changing the narrative for the protests i.e. if you protest you are against the troops and the flag, etc., this bullshit liberal narrative that people like Bernstein push is so nauseating. He did it a lot with Cam Newton's celebrating as well. People would mention they don't care about the situation, so Bernstein immediately thinks they are racist and portrays them as such for not standing up for black culture and celebration. It's all about winning the narrative. And when little Danny says there are only two sides to the debate, of course if you aren't on the side with him, then you are racist, bigoted, etc.

This is a big problem. If you want to have a serious dialog you need to at least let your callers make their point instead of guessing on what they may say.

This isn't yelling at dumb callers who want Fox to yell and scream at the refs or his players.

Agreed. If you wanna play serious radio, then have a serious big boy conversation with your callers.

It almost seems like they are so scared a caller is going to make them sound foolish they resort to cutting them off and shouting them down.

I understand this but it isn't that simple. A nuanced argument isn't good for radio. Besides MANY people wouldn't give a fuck how it was discussed. They're just arguing about the style of the argument to save face.

Control the narrative. College kids protesting conservative speakers coming to their campus. If they prevent them from making a point, their delicate little thoughts will never waiver. Dan is the same way - get pissed off, cut off callers and then ridicule them all while Goff can laugh in the background.

I know I'm the only one here who remotely likes Hub, but he's one of the few who can actually have a conversation on that station. He is a self-proclaimed extreme Leftist and former hippie, and yet he ALWAYS goes out of his way to acknowledge that even though he has strong beliefs, he would be hypocritical to not acknowledge the beliefs of others.

He was on with Rosenbloom Saturday, and after Hub lambasting Trump for his comments, Rosenbloom asked him if he thought any less of Maddon for visiting the White House. Hub said that though he disagreed with the "normalization" of Trump, he would never hold that type of thing against anyone because there are lots of people with whom he disagrees, but he still respects many of them and he would be part of the problem if he held their political beliefs against them. I think that type of acknowledgment is all anyone is asking for, regardless of the host's personal views.

They're protesting the military!
They hate the flag!
They hate America!
They hate the police!
Stick to sports!
Gayle Sayers and Fergie Jenkin just played ball.
After a tragedy is the wrong time to talk about reform!
There was a black president!
You're saying NOTHING has gotten better!
His afro scares me!
He's a thug!
You couldn't make this type of money in another country!

Then this same group complains about someone else using hyperbole and not wanting to have an honest discussion.

Amazing to me that anyone thinks Trump cares about anything. The way he says RIGHT? like 40 times during his speeches is a dead giveaway. He's testing the waters and making sure what he's saying will be received well.

So, I had these two clowns streaming on my wife's little Samsung tablet/computer thingy earlier in the afternoon, and I let it hibernate because I had to make some calls. For some reason, every 20 minutes or so, the stream comes back on for like a 3 second clip. All I've heard the last few clips is Goff saying things like "I am a conflicted man...", "This is an US problem", "let's be real about this situation", and lastly "... moments I won't ever, ever back down from, and this is one of 'em." I swear to God every time, it is just Goff pontificating.

If you just heard the 3-second snippets, you'd think this was some sort of XM political station with a single host.

Lit up a cigar and decides to tune in, knowing full well what I was getting into. Dan responded to a caller incredulously asking about the point of the protests with "I'm not going to play Google for you, read what Kaepernick said." This is the same guy who quoted Tim Thomas' reasoning for not visiting Obama's White House and said "WHAT ARE YOU ACTUALLY PROTESTING?!?!"

The caller then made the mistake of mentioning the violent rhetoric emanating from some sects of the BLM movement. Goff then proceeded to say that you can't really say what BLM is all about because the group has no leaders.
