4 game series. Cubs can clinch the earliest on Tuesday. Just need to win 2 or win one with the Brewers losing 1 and we take the Central again.

One of these teams will eliminate the other due to their 3 game series even though it wont get that far. This one is a matter of when and not if. The cubs would have to go 0-7 and one of those teams would have to be all but perfect for this not to happen. They should be able to set a rotation and everything. Tseng is going to start vs the reds.

Your team is the defending World Series Champion that is about to clinch another playoff appearance, and you just can't help thinking about the Sox and/or their fans. Very sad.

I ain't gonna watch an inning of Cubs and suck-ass Cardinals tonight. Fuck 'em! I'm gonna watch Dallas kick the shit out of my football Cardinals instead. Either way I'm going to bed pissed off!

P.S. Do we play the Bears this year? :eye:

Need to see a solid start from Lester tonight. Need to see if he is ready for a playoff start.

This would be nice. And he is normally solid against the Cardinals.

Weaver has been on fire. The kid is small and lanky, but he throws from a deceptively low release point and has a "rising" 4 seam that will whiff guys upstairs. Scouts had him as #4-#5 type but he has really made strides with his poise this year. Launching Leake was the correct move, Wainwright looks to be almost cooked, and Lynn will be a Cub next year :salut:

2018, numbnuts. This season is not the only reason to watch games.

Well, Leake has been solid in Seattle and the Cards are only 2.5 out of the wild card, so launching Leake is looking like a pretty fucking stupid move.

Your opinion, and it's bad. I'm not gonna go IMU and look up some arbitrary-endpoint stats, but Leake had something like a 5.5 ERA since his hot start and was throwing in the 80s. At the tiime of the trade Wainwright was still healthy and Lynn was dealing. The Cardinals needed Leake to eat (average-ish) innings for 2-3 years while their pitching stock (Weaver, Reyes, Martinez, Flaherty, Hudson et al) developed some seasoning. It's possible the change of scenery or an adjustment made w/ Seattle (or... just pitching in Safeco against AL West lineups) has revived Leake to some extent.... but the direction going forward was clear. Don't need Leake's remaining $48M on his deal blocking any of those guys. SEA won't get full value out of Leake in any case because a lot of his value is in his hitting, baserunning and defense.

C'mon man I realize you hate everything Cardinal Red, but get your head out of your ass with this foolishness. If you can't understand the rationale for the move, you just aren't that baseball savvy, or comprehend how modern front offices work.

Please tell me you are not this stupid.

Mike Leake was dealt on August 30th.

11 days after this news
http://www.rotoworld.com/recent/mlb/358 ... wainwright
Quote:
Adam Wainwright received a platelet-rich plasma injection in his right elbow and will be shut down for the next 10-14 days.
The Cardinals are still hopeful that he'll be able to return this season, but from a fantasy perspective it's time to cut bait in redraft leagues. Luke Weaver will occupy his rotation spot while he's out.

Wainwright didn't even start a throwing program till a week later
Quote:
Adam Wainwright - S - Cardinals - Sept 8
Adam Wainwright (elbow) will ramp up a throwing program during the Cardinals' homestand that begins on Friday.
Wainwright was shut down for a while after receiving a platelet-rich plasma injection in his right elbow in mid-August, but he's slowly being built back up. It's unclear at this point how far away he might be from rejoining the Cardinals' rotation. Jack Flaherty is currently occupying Wainwright's spot.

Flaherty stepped in to replace Leake and he's been terrible.

You just don't comprehend. Wainwright's status has zero correlation with the decision to dump Leake.

And irony of calling a poster "stupid" then evidence cited is 11 days after the fact.

I'm done taking any of your opinions on baseball seriously

You just implied it did:

No, Wainwright was not healthy when Leake was traded, he was getting blood injections. Is this a fucking "bit"?

I'd much rather shit on the Cardinal nation than the subdivision, Hank. The cease fire between Frank and myself has made the community a better place, IMO.

I'm looking forward to Tseng and Zastryzny getting multiple innings in games 3 and 4.

Interesting that Schwarber is benched again vs a RHP.
