Is anyone really influenced by what athletes or celebrity say? I have no problem with them saying what ever it is that they want, but is any rational or sane person influenced at all by this stuff one way or another. I can see kids maybe, but not anybody who has the capacity to come up with informed opinions on their own.

You're influenced by these things too. Advertising works on all of us.

I have never bought anything because of a celebrity endorsement.

What if a celebrity started endorsing something you already buy?

Advertising can have a negative effect. McDonald's stupid ass commercials have made me stop eating there.

But for the most part it's tough. Every single corporation and likely a lot of celebrities will be for and against things you are for and against. I remember when I was pissed at Coca-Cola because they were against Stand your Ground laws after the Trayvon Martin issue. But so much has happened since then, and Coke owns so many products, it's impossible to not support companies you don't agree with at all times. How many left-wing snowflakes still go to Chik-Fil-A and Hobby Lobby? I'm sure a lot.

Some celebrities I cannot get past. I will never watch anything with Lena Dunham in it. She is the absolute worst. But others with political viewpoints different than mine I will watch. HBO is pretty left when it comes to their viewpoints, but I still watch a lot of their shows.

Athletes, celebrities and especially corporations only have one ideology: get more fucking money. Cocacola corp does not care at all whatsoever even a little bit like ABSOLUTELY ZERO about stand your ground laws or even precious Trayvon, they care about whether appearing to support (?) Trayvon will make them look good so they can make more money. appearing. Colacola is not going to actually put its weight behind abolishing stand your ground legislation or anything of the sort, they are much more concerned with battling things like soda taxes and free trade.

athletes and celebrities are the same. they have people working for them who calculate everything. when Lebron calls Trump a bum on TV its debated endlessly by people in charge of his image. Lebron himself doesn't care. Lebron has no reason to, he insulates himself from the whole thing. Same goes for the whole lot of them. Are there exceptions? sure. But they are few and far between, and among the athletes they probably can be counted on one hand. athletes are pretty fucking dumb I dont know if you've noticed.
