sox are 2 games "ahead" of giants and 1 game ahead of phillies... difference between draft pick #1 and draft pick #3 could be huge... no one gives two shits about these last ten games, lose, lose lose!!! hell they may catch the tigers.

The way I read it is that they are three games behind the Phillies (2+tiebreaker) and 3 behind the Giants. That is a pretty big lead to cut down in 13 games.

Conversely they are three in front of the Tigers (2+tiebreaker).

Astros will take care of this for them but I think they are fairly locked in at that 3rd spot.

No clue why they didn't keep Derek Holland and Pelfrey starting so they'd have a better shot at top pick.

Makes no sense to me. Yeah the phenoms get a taste but will that really aide in their development vs having the top overall pick?? Maybe there is no consensus #1 guy??

They're 3 games behind the Giants, 1.5 behind the Phillies and 1.5 up on the Tigers. They have no chance of catching the Giants but they could catch the Phillies and hold off the Tigers as long as the Astros take care of business this week. They have to stay in the top 3.

I was told that Brian Sabean has been going to scout days this fall which is pretty much unheard of. I don't think he's real happy about having that top pick.

Good loss tonight paired with a Phillies win. Now hopefully Detroit can pull this one out.

They "drop" to 4 now.

Must lose game tonight. With Detroit idle they have to get to 1 game back in the loss column. James Shields needs to go James Shields all over this one.

Sox are fading fast. 2 games behind DET in loss column with CIN and NYM only 2 games behind them. Plus the Pale Hose are winning tonight. They could fall all the way to the 7th pick.

Ouch.

Anaheim is in the WC hunt, they should sweep the Sox..if not then maybe they drop another slot if the six win the next 2.

Cincy isn't far back

The Sox are better than the lower half of the AL. They'll compete for a WC spot next year.

Next year is gonna be fun. I fully expect Kopech to break camp with them.

I don't think he will. I think they will keep himin the minors for a couple months to limit his innings. He threw 134 this year and I would think he'll be capped somewhere around 160-175 next year. He's only 21 yrs old. No reason to rush him.

Kopech breaking camp with the MLB team should be a fireable offense.

Kopech won't be up before the middle of May and there are going to be too many wins against KC and Detroit for the Sox not to compete for the second WC.

Kopech could have made a difference-meter

The complete dump of the talent happens and then the team plays over .500 baseball the rest of the way. Unreal. IF Kopech did break camp or is up by May AND is as advertised and IF Rodon is healthy, hard to imagine this team not in the hunt for a WC spot. Current Abreu, Avi, Moncada, Timmy, Yolmer, Kevan Smith, and maybe Leury and Davidson are solid enough with a starting 5 of Rodon, Giolito, Lopez, Kopech, and Shields. Bullpen will still be shit, but as mentioned, a lot of games vs. DET and KC, who will be wastelands. Gonna pick up a FA or 2 and Eloy, Collins, Dunning, and Hansen (Tilson? Burdi?) could all be in next year's wave of talent to come to the majors post May too.

He's pitched one game above AA and only one full professional season.

Leury, Smith, Tim Anderson, and Davidson are not guys who are everyday players on Championship teams.

Didn't call it a championship team. Called it a Wild Card contender.

If Rodon is healthy I think they should ramp up the building part of this rebuild this offseason. If Stanton is available for little more than taking on that contract the Sox should be at the front of the line for his services. Grab the competitive advantage that is 36 games against the Tigers and Royals.

I can't imagine that Kopech comes up until May so they get his seventh year, maybe not even until the Super Two date range passes.

They can cobble together a relief staff with sign-and-flip guys to one year deals with second year team options. Spend $20M on 6 guys, hope that three work out and can be flipped for depth prospects in July. Run the other two spots as the Charlotte Express, or maybe stick a Rule 5 guy in there to be the blowout man.

Rodon will never be healthy. You need to come to grips with that already.

CIN with 92 losses, Sox with 93 for 4th pick. Sox 6-4 in last 10.
