In general I don't like vermouth. It's tolerable in a manhattan or the Rye variant if one (Brooklyn when I've ordered one) but it's just.. meh.

Interesting that you would go there.

But I'm not judging.

It's a Catholic or evangelical thing.

Red vermouth is very different. Recently bought some high end stuff which is quite palatable.

I prefer whiskey drinks, but I'll drink a martini occasionally.

I used to every blue moon, but it was usually only if I had a taste for a stuffed olive. Again, not judging

Yeah, I reserve the right to change my mind if ever confronted with a chance to drink good vermouth but the red sweet used for manhattans and white dry for Martinis and Brooklyns is usually not my cup of tea. I'll drink an Old fashioned or smash or sour if I want a classic whiskey cocktail.

More and more though it's just neat when it comes to whiskey or Rum (sipping rum).

I'll go straight bourbon at a po-dunk place, but if you're ever at a nice place with good bartenders, there's nothing better than a chilled Manhattan up and neat.

A good tender is key. The whiskey places are popping up all over, even Bradford has one with like 100 different whiskeys.
