The best pickoff move in baseball is going to pitch in washington and set a tone. Overaggressive hitters finally getting their shot and Trea fucking Turner.....that screams hendricks to me.

I like where this is going.

i just don't think you're "running scared" by saving hendricks. like i said, there is no real "ace" to this staff right now. if you wanted to go with the hot hand...hell...lackey would be your go-to guy.

whatever throws off the nationals' lineup best, go for it.

You're limiting him to one start in the series by holding him out of the road games. Hendricks appears to be our best pitcher right now; the only question should be whether he starts 1 and 5 or 2 and 5.

Yep! That's the order I called for.

With Jake being hurt Hendricks is the ace. He should go Game 1 and 5. He did well against Kershaw and Game 7 last year too. The moment doesn't get to him.

I have no issues with Hendricks going game 1.

The problem is, if Arrieta is still truly hurt, there is no one else you can count on after him.

Lackey needs to be on the roster.

Q is weird.

He couldn't get out of 5 yesterday vs the Reds. Reds are a good offense but Nats are a better offense.

Lackey's been there and proved himself. Guy knows how to step up in big situations. Q is unproven. I guess use Lackey if Q shits the bed in the first 3 innings.

There are a lot of unknowns but I would trust Montgomery more than Lackey.

I don't like Montgomery but I'd agree, Lackey gives up too many homers and a home run is often the difference in a playoff game.

Heard Dusty is treating Scherzer's hamstring tweak by beating it with a bag of doorknobs.

Maybe he will have him throw 47 simulated innings to prepare.

Hopefully it works out. They don't scare me with Scherzer being hurt.

I think this series will be very closely contested. The Cubs should hope it goes five.

I would suggest a strategy that involves the Mighty, Mighty Coob not getting into a situation that actually matters if/when they enter the game.

Way more worried about their offense than pitching, though.

That lineup is ridiculous

It is but it's more of an issue when you know 2 runs is likely your ceiling.

Washington is the better team. That doesn't mean the Cubs can't win, but Washington is stacked.

Of course they are.

But I can see the Cubs scoring runs off ANY of the WAS pitchers.

I have a hard time imagining any Cub pitcher shutting down the Nats.

My head told me the Nationals would win this series before Scherzer's injury. Now my heart and head are aligned.
